Job summary

Client of Salt is seeking a data engineer to develop data marts, build data products from banking datasets and design customer 360 views for analytics, ML and AI use cases. The role involves migrating from a Microsoft database environment to Amazon Redshift and requires strong data modelling capabilities.

The project is a 1-year contract based in Abu Dhabi, UAE, with the potential to extend. Banking domain experience and hands-on SQL development are essential, with Python familiarity encouraged

Qualifications

• Hands-on SQL development with complex queries and stored procedures.
• Experience in data mart development, warehousing, and data modelling.
• Working knowledge of Python.
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server or similar databases.
• Amazon Redshift knowledge is preferred.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as Copilot or Claude is an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop data marts stored procedures and scheduled data transformation workflows
• Design data models and customer 360 views to support analytics ML and AI use cases
• Build reusable data products using banking datasets
• Support the planned transition from the existing Microsoft database environment to Amazon Redshift
• Some resources should also have strong Data Architecture or advanced Data Modelling capabilities

Required Technical Skills

• Strong hands-on SQL development including complex queries and stored procedures
• Experience in data mart development data warehousing and data modelling
• Working knowledge of Python
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server or similar databases
• Amazon Redshift knowledge is preferred
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as Copilot or Claude is an advantage

Mandatory Banking Domain Experience

Retail Banking

Accounts deposits loans cards transactions and customer data

SME Business Banking

SME lending credit facilities and business customer data

Corporate Banking

Corporate lending credit limits risk exposure letters of credit and trade finance

Expected Resource Split

• Approximately 3 Data Engineers with Retail Banking experience
• Approximately 2-3 Data Engineers with SME Corporate Banking experience
• They should have additional Data Architecture and advanced Data Modelling capabilities

Banking domain experience is mandatory

Candidates must have hands-on experience working with banking data not just general data engineering experience
