Job description

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to innovation. We work on challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain and are looking for talented individuals to help.

You will join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You will collaborate across AWS to maintain high standards for safety and security while providing extensive capacity at low cost for our customers. As a Data Center Facility Manager, you will oversee engineering operations and maintenance across an Amazon availability zone. Your responsibilities include leading a team of engineers responsible for the availability of mechanical and electrical services, risk management, corrective and preventive maintenance of critical infrastructure, vendor management, and metrics reporting.

Key responsibilities
  • Oversee build-out of facility-specific infrastructure in existing locations.
  • Manage onsite shift technicians, senior technicians, subcontractors, and vendors, ensuring compliance with AWS practices and procedures.
  • Ensure engineering systems availability.
  • Conduct financial analysis and contribute to financial decisions.
  • Manage and develop engineering teams, providing technical and leadership expertise, and ensuring high performance.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts, define, and audit SLAs.
  • Lead project management for multiple sites.
  • Make business decisions based on departmental understanding, set priorities, and develop project plans.
  • Coordinate with IT managers and business leaders to manage projects, capacity, and optimize safety, performance, and reliability.
  • Operate and manage critical systems such as switchgear, generators, UPS systems, and power distribution equipment.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline.
  • Relevant experience managing teams in Data Centers or mission-critical environments.
  • Deep knowledge of critical facility systems such as generators, chillers, UPS, fire systems, and cable systems.
  • Experience managing vendor partnerships.

Preferred: Master's Degree in relevant fields and experience working specifically in Data Centers.
