AWS has an exciting Data Center Operations Engineer opportunity in Dubai available for a UAE national with a family book. AWS is committed to contributing towards the UAE’s goal of employing 75,000 Emiratis in the private sector and Ministerial Resolution No.279.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers, ensuring continual access to our cloud services by maintaining servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment. Our team works on challenging problems involving supply chain variables, and we seek talented individuals eager to contribute.

You will join a diverse team of engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers. Your role involves ensuring safety and security standards while providing high capacity at low cost, fostering an inclusive culture that encourages innovative ideas and ownership.

We are looking for a UAE National Data Center Engineering Operations Engineer to operate and maintain AWS data centers’ electrical and mechanical infrastructure, following a process-oriented approach. You will oversee facility operations and safety procedures.

Key job responsibilities

SAFETY

• Maintain high safety standards and promote a safety culture. Collaborate with teams to address safety risks and own safety initiatives.

ENGINEERING & FACILITY OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE

• Support electrical and mechanical equipment, including UPS, switchgear, circuit breakers, ATS, generators, chillers, HVAC, exhaust fans, VFDs, and transformers.
• Operate and maintain mechanical and electrical systems, emergency generators, HVAC, and fire safety equipment.
• Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within SLAs.
• Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures.
• Drive operational innovation and cost reduction.

A day in the life

• Work rotational shifts of 4 days of 12 hours (2 days day shift, 2 nights), with 4 days off, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Respond to emergency calls during on-call shifts.
• Take daily operational readings of equipment during rounds and log temperatures, voltages, and currents.
• Supervise contractors performing maintenance or servicing.
• Perform tasks such as moving objects within safety limits, working outdoors, in noisy environments, at heights, and from ladders.
