Job summary

Dalil Information Technology | UAE is seeking a Data Center Design Engineer – Mechanical (Pre-Sales) to develop mechanical designs and proposals for data center projects, coordinating with clients, consultants, vendors, and internal teams to deliver energy-efficient cooling solutions.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering and 5+ years in data centers, with strong AutoCAD and Revit/BIM skills and knowledge of ASHRAE and Uptime Institute concepts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• 5+ years of data center or mission-critical experience.
• Strong knowledge of data center cooling and HVAC systems.
• Experience with AutoCAD and Revit/BIM preferred.
• Familiarity with ASHRAE and Uptime Institute concepts is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical concepts and designs for data centers, server rooms and facilities.
• Design and select HVAC and cooling systems (CRAC/CRAH, chilled-water, DX, InRow).
• Prepare cooling load calculations, sizing, heat-load and airflow analyses.
• Develop P&IDs, single-line diagrams, equipment schedules and layouts.
• Review tender documents, specs, drawings and scope of work.
• Prepare technical proposals, BOQs, equipment selections and cost estimates.
• Coordinate with OEMs and suppliers for information and quotations.
• Develop energy-efficient cooling solutions and evaluate redundancy concepts (N, N+1, 2N, 2N+1).
• Support data center Tier requirements, availability and operability considerations.
• Participate in client meetings and deliver technical presentations.
• Provide clarifications to commercial team and support proposal development.
• Ensure designs comply with ASHRAE, NFPA, UAE regulations and project standards.

Role Summary

Responsible for developing mechanical designs, technical solutions, cost estimates, and proposals for data center projects during the pre-sales and tendering stages. The role will work closely with clients, consultants, vendors, and internal project teams to develop reliable, energy-efficient, and commercially viable data center cooling solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical concepts and designs for data centers, server rooms, and critical facilities.
• Design and select HVAC and cooling systems, including CRAC/CRAH, chilled-water systems, DX systems, InRow cooling, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, and associated equipment.
• Prepare cooling load calculations, equipment sizing, heat-load assessments, and airflow calculations.
• Develop P&IDs, single-line diagrams, equipment schedules, layouts, and technical specifications.
• Review client/consultant tender documents, specifications, drawings, and scope of work.
• Prepare technical proposals, BOQs, equipment selections, compliance statements, and cost estimates.
• Coordinate with OEMs and suppliers to obtain technical information and quotations.
• Develop energy-efficient cooling solutions and evaluate redundancy concepts such as N, N+1, 2N, and 2N+1.
• Support data center Tier requirements, availability, maintainability, and operational sustainability requirements.
• Participate in client and consultant meetings and provide technical presentations.
• Support the commercial team with technical clarifications, value engineering, and proposal development.
• Review mechanical designs and ensure compliance with applicable ASHRAE, NFPA, local UAE regulations, and project-specific standards.
• Support the project team during design development, commissioning, and technical handover when required.

Preferred Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience- data center or mission-critical facilities.
• Strong knowledge of data center cooling and HVAC systems.
• Experience with AutoCAD and preferably Revit/BIM.
• Experience in pre-sales, tendering, estimation, and technical proposal preparation.
• Knowledge of ASHRAE and Uptime Institute concepts is an advantage.
