Job description

We are looking for a data-driven and detail-oriented Retail Data / Business Analyst to monitor and optimize store and category performance across our sports retail operations.

This role is responsible for driving insights through data analysis, managing key retail KPIs, and supporting strategic and operational decisions that directly impact sales, efficiency, manpower and customer engagement.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical capabilities, a deep understanding of the retail industry—particularly sports—and hands-on experience using tools like Power BI and Excel to transform data into actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities

Performance & KPI Analysis:

  • Track and analyze daily, weekly, and monthly store and category performance to identify sales trends and business opportunities.
  • Monitor and evaluate key retail KPIs including conversion rate, ATV (Average Transaction Value), UPT (Units Per Transaction), and sales per square foot.
  • Conduct sales vs. stock analysis to ensure optimal stock levels, avoiding understock or overstock issues on best-selling products.
  • Create and maintain dashboards and reports using Power BI, Excel, and other visualization tools to present insights clearly to key stakeholders.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities by analyzing past performance and providing data-backed recommendations.

Incentives & Operational Support:

  • Track team and individual sales incentives, ensuring accurate and timely calculations and payouts.
  • Work closely with retail store teams, merchandising, and supply chain to streamline processes and improve overall efficiency.
  • Support retail planning and operations by analyzing trends in sales, stock, and customer buying behaviors.

Market Research & Consumer Insights:

  • Conduct competitive analysis and market research to understand trends in the sports retail sector.
  • Analyze customer demographics and purchasing behavior to inform marketing and product strategy decisions.
  • Recommend data-driven strategies to boost consumer engagement and maximize store performance.

Qualifications and Skills

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Data Analytics, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 5 years of total work experience, with at least 2–3 years in data / business analysis or retail analytics or business performance within the retail industry.

Technical Skills :

  • Proficiency in Power BI, Excel, and data visualization tools.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency and VBA Macro development for automating reports, dashboards, data modeling and formulas.
  • Power BI: building and navigating dashboards, performance visualization and visual storytelling.
  • Strong knowledge of retail metrics including sell-through, markdowns, and inventory turnover.
  • Financial modeling and advanced reporting capabilities.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong analytical thinking and storytelling skills to communicate data insights and numbers
  • Excellent communication and collaboration across functions
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple KPIs and data sets
  • Strong presentation and storytelling skills to communicate data insights
  • Passion for sports and an understanding of industry-specific consumer behavior
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative retail environment
