Compile, manage, and maintain geological and mining databases including drilling assay, geochemical, geophysical mapping, grade control, and production data.
Oversee the import, validation, integration, and export of geological and mining data from various sources into the database systems.
Ensure the databases are optimized for handling large datasets from various projects.
Troubleshoot and resolve database issues. Ensure data integrity through periodic checks, audits, and QA/QC validation procedures.
Perform data analysis to support geological modelling, resource estimation, and mine planning.
Prepare reports with meaningful insights and trends for internal and external stakeholders.
Collaborate with geologists for field data collection as needed.
Serve as a liaison with external consultants, laboratories, and other data providers.
Collaborate with geologists, mining engineers, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate data availability.
Assist with GIS and 3D modelling software to visualize and analyze geological data.
Ensure compliance with JORC, NI 43101, and other industry reporting standards and best practices.
Provide training and support to geology team members on database systems and data management best practices.
Stay updated on new database technologies and industry advancements.
Liaise with database software clients and IT departments for troubleshooting and improvements.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelors/Masters degree in Geology, Geosciences, or a related field.
5 years of experience in a similar role.
Proficiency in geological database management systems.
Expertise in geological software (e.g. ArcGIS, Leapfrog, Surpac, Datamine, etc.).
Strong understanding of JORC, NI 43101, and other industry reporting standards and best practices.
Ability to analyze and interpret geological and mining data.
Strong problem-solving abilities with a capacity to think critically and troubleshoot database issues.
