AIG in Dubai seeks a senior underwriter to drive NPW, profitability, and underwriting excellence for Financial Institutions. You will provide technical guidance, manage a GCCNA FI portfolio, and collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Brokers to expand relationships and profitability.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in technical underwriting and risk assessment for FI/financial institutions.
• Proven ability to manage a large, profitable portfolio across GCCNA.
• Strong business development and broker relationship skills.
• Experience in product development and underwriting strategy.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite within authorised limits using risk, loss history and guidance.
• Provide technical underwriting support to juniors; guidance per FI strategy.
• Manage FI portfolio to ensure profitable, sustainable growth; adjust strategy as needed.
• Drive market development with Sales & Marketing and broker channels.
• Adhere to internal SLAs and regulatory/compliance requirements.
• Control expenses and improve efficiency of underwriting processes.

Job Purpose

Driving NPW, bottom-line growth and profitability to Financial Institutions portfolio through underwriting excellence. Underwriting authority granted will be in line with large value and high complexity. The position also requires tangible business development, Broker relationship management, thought leadership, product development and strategy and underwriting training to more junior team members.

Job Accountabilities

Technical Underwriting

• Underwrite business within underwriting authority through a rigorous risk assessment process which includes consideration of loss control, claims history and all other appropriate risk management factors.
• Risk logging, worksheets and rater tool application.
• Provide technical underwriting guidance to junior underwriters as per EMEA Financial Institutions strategy, guidelines & rules.
• Ensure adherence with all underwriting guidelines, ART and referrals.
• Perform and interpret financial analysis of Financial Institutions companies and their on-going performance.

Portfolio Management

• Represent the GCCNA cluster in the EMEA FI Committee as the FI GCCNA Leader.
• Manage the Financial Institutions portfolio across GCCNA to achieve and/or maintain profitable and sustainable growth, constantly assessing overall performance of the portfolio and making recommendations for adjustments to the FL Profit Centre Manager & FI EMEA Leader as needed.
• Work closely with FI EMEA Leader on any adjustment to FI strategy, guidelines & product development initiatives.
• Provide accurate estimates and reports as required.
• Cooperate with Sales & Marketing for the Development of market relationships leading to an increased level of new business and high retention ratios.
• Assist with the refinement of product offering for certain client segments.

Business Development and Retention

• Keep abreast of market changes and trends.
• Proactively engage with distribution to provide technical support for Branch business development initiatives.
• Seek opportunities to improve synergies and participate in cross-sell initiatives with other Profit Centres.
• Develop and maintain strong personal and professional relationships with Clients and Brokers across GCCNA.
• Represent AIG in a general and Financial Lines capacity where appropriate across GCCNA.

Business Operations

• Adhere to internal SLA’s to ensure operational efficiency and achievement of agreed customer service standards.

Audit and Compliance

• Ensure adherence to audit requirements across FI GCCNA portfolio.
• Ensure adherence to regulatory and compliance requirements across FI GCCNA portfolio.

Expense Control

• Manage all expenses within budget. Continuously work to reduce the expense ratio through constant attention to efficiencies and opportunities to maximize productivity through streamlining of processes.
