Job description

Imperial College London Diabetes Centre (ICLDC), a M42 partner, is a state-of-the-art outpatient facility that specializes in diabetes treatment, research, training, and public health awareness. In just over a decade, the Centre has gained international renown for its holistic approach to the treatment of diabetes and related complications, enabling patients to receive the full spectrum of care they need in one place.

ICLDC was established in 2006 in Abu Dhabi by Mubadala in partnership with the UK’s Imperial College London to address the growing demand for diabetes care in the UAE. The centre now operates three branches across Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, impacting the lives of more than one million people through patient-centric programs and public health initiatives.

About the Role

We are seeking UAE Nationals to join our Patient Access Services team. As a Guest Services Officer and Interpreter, you will be the first point of contact for patients, families, and visitors, ensuring a welcoming and efficient experience at our healthcare facilities.

Your responsibilities will include patient greeting, registration, appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and guiding patients to their appointments. Additionally, this role requires translation support during consultations with physicians (Arabic to English / English to Arabic). This position is ideal for individuals passionate about delivering exceptional patient care and customer service, ensuring a seamless experience for all visitors at our healthcare facilities.

This position will be based in Abu Dhabi at ICLDC.

Responsibilities
  1. Greet and assist patients, ensuring a positive and professional first impression.
  2. Manage patient registration, verify insurance eligibility, and schedule appointments.
  3. Handle cash collections, billing inquiries, and ensure accurate patient identification.
  4. Serve as an interpreter (Arabic to English / English to Arabic) to facilitate clear communication between patients and medical staff.
  5. Perform clinical assistant duties as required.
  6. Ensure compliance with DOH, DHA, and JCI regulations.
  7. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and medical teams in a timely and professional manner.
  8. Contribute to process improvements and initiatives aimed at enhancing service excellence.
Qualifications
  1. UAE National with a family book.
  2. Minimum 1+ years of experience in customer service, patient access, translation, or administrative roles, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  3. Strong attention to detail with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-centric approach.
  5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with hospital systems (e.g., EMR, insurance portals).
  6. Fluency in both English and Arabic, with the ability to serve as a translator and a desire to learn to be a medical translator in both languages.
  7. Hours per week: 48 hours.
  8. Work days: Sunday to Friday, with Saturday off. Sundays are rotational; if an employee works on Sunday, they will receive a day off of their choice that week.
  9. Shift hours: scheduled in advance, e.g., 6am-3:30pm, 7am-4:30pm, 8am-5:30pm, or 9am-6:30pm.
