The Credit Card Technical Specialist is responsible for supporting and maintaining the technical infrastructure related to credit card processing systems. This role involves system configuration, troubleshooting issues, implementing enhancements, and ensuring seamless integration between internal platforms and external payment networks (e.g., Visa, Mastercard). The specialist works closely with business units, vendors, and compliance teams to ensure optimal system performance, data accuracy, and security compliance.
Job Summary:
The Credit Card Technical Specialist is responsible for supporting and maintaining the technical infrastructure related to credit card processing systems. This role involves system configuration, troubleshooting issues, implementing enhancements, and ensuring seamless integration between internal platforms and external payment networks (e.g., Visa, Mastercard). The specialist works closely with business units, vendors, and compliance teams to ensure optimal system performance, data accuracy, and security compliance.
Key Responsibilities:Provide technical support for credit card processing platforms, including authorization, settlement, and chargeback systems.
Configure and maintain card management systems (CMS), core banking integrations, and third-party APIs.
Investigate and resolve system-related issues, transaction failures, and data discrepancies.
Coordinate with vendors, networks (Visa, Mastercard, etc.), and internal stakeholders during system upgrades or incidents.
Perform root cause analysis for recurring technical problems and implement preventive solutions.
Develop and execute test cases for new features, patches, and enhancements in card platforms.
Support EMV, contactless, and virtual card implementations.
Ensure compliance with PCI-DSS, ISO 8583 message formats, and other regulatory frameworks.
Document technical processes, configuration settings, and support knowledge base articles.
Monitor transaction flows and generate performance reports or alerts for anomalies.
Education:
Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (required)
Experience:
8+ years of experience in technical support or system administration for credit card platforms or payments systems.
Experience with card switches (e.g., Base24, FIS, TSYS, Fiserv), card issuing platforms, or CMS software.
Familiarity with payment network protocols (e.g., ISO 8583, XML/JSON APIs, SOAP).
Skills:
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Proficiency in SQL, scripting (Python, Bash), or other query/reporting tools.
Experience with monitoring tools (Splunk, AppDynamics, etc.) and ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Jira).
Understanding of card life cycle, BIN management, transaction flow, fraud monitoring, and settlement processing.
Excellent communication skills to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
PCI DSS Compliance Certification
Certified Payments Professional (ETA CPP)
ITIL Foundation or other service management certifications
On-call support may be required for critical incidents or system outages.
May involve collaboration across different time zones.
Work in a secure, compliance-driven environment.
