Job summary

Six Senses The Palm, Dubai is seeking a Cost Controller / Business Analyst to join our finance team. You will monitor operating costs, payroll, and department expenses, and prepare financial reports with basic variance analysis.

The role requires a finance or accounting degree and professional certification, hotel accounting experience, and proficiency with POS, PMS, CRM and Excel. You will develop into a finance business partner through mentoring and on-the-job training.

Qualifications

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting, plus professional accounting certification.
• At least 1 year of hotel accounting experience.
• Strong command of English; familiarity with hotel systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist with monitoring operating costs, payroll, and departmental expenses against budgets.
• Support preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports and basic variance analysis.
• Collect, validate, and organize financial and operational data from systems (POS, PMS, Excel, BI tools).
• Support budgeting and forecasting exercises under supervision.
• Assist with internal controls, audits, and compliance with finance policies and procedures.
• Work closely with Operations and F&B teams to understand cost drivers and operational KPIs.
• Gradually developing into a finance business partner role through on-the-job training and mentoring.
• Control purchasing specifications, spot-check quality, price and service of suppliers to ensure best quality prices.
• Supervise receiving, storing and issuing procedures and inventory management to prevent waste and pilferage.
• Operate accounting software to record, store, and analyze information.
• Comply with governmental and company policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Classify, record, and summarize numerical and financial data using journals and ledgers.
• Inform the Director of Finance of any complaints or problems; respond to daily operating issues.

As Cost Controller / Business Analyst, I will behave in a professional manner and set an example to all. My duties and responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with monitoring operating costs, payroll, and departmental expenses against budgets.
• Supporting the preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports and basic variance analysis.
• Collecting, validating, and organizing financial and operational data from systems (PeopleSoft, POS, PMS, Excel, BI tools)
• Supporting budgeting and forecasting exercises under supervision.
• Assisting with internal controls, audits, and compliance with finance policies and procedures.
• Working closely with Operations and F&B teams to understand cost drivers and operational KPIs.
• Gradually developing into a finance business partner role through on-the-job training and mentoring.
• Controlling, checking and establishing the purchasing specifications, to spot check quality, price and service of purveyors and market in order to make sure the operation gets the best quality prices from regular and reliable supply sources.
• Supervise the receiving, storing and issuing procedures and supervise store-room hosts and premises for proper recording, storing, inventory turnover, issuing checks for proper inventory rotation avoiding waste and pilferage.
• Operate computers programmed with accounting software to record, store, and analyze information.
• Comply with governmental and company policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Classify, record, and summarize numerical and financial data to compile and keep financial records, using journals and ledgers or computers.
• Coded documents according to company procedures.
• Inform the Director of Finance of any complaints or any other problems that may arise.
• React to all daily operating problems and complaints rose and to offer solutions.
• Maintain a high standard of personal appearance, grooming and hygiene.
• Knowledge of all safety, security and emergency procedures related to my position in line with brand and statutory requirements.
• Ensure the privacy of guests, partners and residential owners, I will apply an extra level of protection to any sensitive personal data and use confidential information only to perform my job.
• Ensure all equipment of the department is kept clean and in good working condition.
• Upsell all property facilities and activities.
• Attend meetings and training as required.

Qualifications

To execute the position of Cost Controller / Business Analyst,I have the required qualifications, technical skills and experience in a similar or greater role in luxury hotels with proven results. I possess a minimum of a Diploma/bachelor's degree in finance or accounting or similar qualifications and professional accounting body certification. I have more than one year's experience in a hotel accounting role.

Technical skills include advanced MS I am also familiar with various hotel systems including POS, PMS and CRM platforms. I have an excellent command of written and spoken English.
