Job summary

Spinneys, UAE's leading premium retailer, seeks a detail-oriented Cost Accountant with SAP expertise in Dubai. You will monitor production costs, inventory movements, and material variances to support accurate costing and operational decisions across production, warehouse, and supply chain.

You will prepare cost reports, maintain BOMs in SAP, and support budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls to reduce inventory losses and improve cost accuracy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• Minimum 3–5 years of cost accounting experience in manufacturing.
• Hands-on SAP (FI/CO) experience is required and preferred in food manufacturing.
• Strong costing knowledge including standard/actual costing and variances.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and analyze standard costing, actual costing, and variances (material/labor/overhead).
• Monitor stock movements and reconcile physical inventory in SAP.
• Investigate wastage, shrinkage, and yield variances; propose corrective actions.
• Perform month-end and year-end closing for COGS, inventory, and WIP.
• Conduct cycle counts and reconcile discrepancies; prepare cost analyses for management.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Spinneys, the UAE’s leading premium retailer is seeking a detail-oriented COST ACCOUNTANT with strong SAP experience to join our finance team in Dubai.

This role is responsible for monitoring and analyzing production costs, inventory movements, and material variances — including wastage and shrinkage — to support accurate costing, inventory control, and operational decision-making. This role works closely with production, warehouse, and supply chain teams to ensure cost data integrity from raw material intake through finished goods.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain and analyze standard costing, actual costing, and variance reports (material, labor, and overhead variances)
• Monitor stock movements (stock in/stock out) and reconcile physical inventory against system records in SAP
• Investigate and report on wastage, shrinkage, and yield variances on the production floor; identify root causes and recommend corrective actions
• Perform month-end and year-end closing activities related to cost of goods sold (COGS), inventory valuation, and work-in-progress (WIP)
• Conduct periodic and annual physical stock counts/cycle counts and reconcile discrepancies
• Prepare cost analysis reports for management, including production cost breakdowns, scrap analysis, and cost-saving opportunities
• Maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and routing data in SAP to ensure correct cost roll‑ups
• Collaborate with production, warehouse, and procurement teams to track raw material consumption and finished goods output
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes related to manufacturing costs
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, audit requirements, and company policies related to inventory and cost accounting
• Identify and implement process improvements to reduce inventory losses and improve cost accuracy

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's / Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CMA or equivalent is a plus)
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably within a food manufacturing/production/factory environment
• Hands‑on experience with SAP (FI/CO modules) is required
• Proven experience tracking inventory movements, stock reconciliation, and analyzing wastage/shrinkage
• Strong understanding of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation methods (FIFO, weighted average, etc.)
• Familiarity with BOMs, production orders, and material master data in SAP
• Advanced Excel skills; experience with reporting/BI tools is a plus
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with high attention to detail
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with production, warehouse, and supply chain teams
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal
