Assignment Description
  1. The Control Engineer reporting to EICT lead will be a member of the PDE Project Management Team, working collaboratively within the PDE organization, systems, procedures, and methods.
  2. The Control Engineer is responsible for and accountable to PDE for design solutions and all engineering activities within the Project related to the Control discipline.
  3. The Control Engineer shall ensure that all relevant work, both internal and external, related to these disciplines, is executed to meet:
    - Class, Flag, and British Regulatory Requirements as per Regulatory Compliance Plan (RCP)
    - Contract Requirements
    - Project Specifications, Codes, and Standards.
  4. A main activity of the Control Engineer will involve leading the definition, planning, and oversight of SAS system modifications (PCS, PSD, PSD, and F&G) at the subsystem level, as well as verification and modification of field instrumentation and systems, including procurement follow-up.
  5. The Control Engineer shall ensure that all project contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders reflect the required regulatory and standards compliance.
Accountabilities
  1. Assist in developing and maintaining the SAS system modifications schedule at subsystem and node levels, linking activities and documentation.
  2. Follow up on all activities related to Control system development and change implementation, evaluate risks, and propose mitigation actions to ensure timely delivery of the control system to commissioning.
  3. Ensure the control system change module is populated and implemented according to the project schedule.
  4. Ensure activities within the discipline conform to company framework, contract requirements, Project Execution Plan, and relevant laws and regulations, prioritizing health and safety.
  5. Collaborate with PDE operations team for clear scope guidance, especially for control and discipline life extension activities involving SAS and field instrumentation.
  6. Work with PDE Regulatory Compliance & Verification Lead and Contractors to define and execute compliance activities.
  7. Review and comment on documents such as instrument datasheets, diagrams, specifications, and work packages prepared by contractors.
  8. Comment on control design for operability, functionality, accessibility, and maintainability to meet legal, regulatory, and contractual requirements.
  9. Verify and approve comments within control engineering and respond to TQs or non-conformances.
  10. Prepare control technical philosophies, specifications, and drawings to define scope of work.
  11. Participate in work pack reviews, ensuring scope completeness.
  12. Review design comments from Certifying Authorities and assist in resolving issues.
  13. Participate in safety studies such as HAZID and HAZOP.
  14. Monitor and review contractor activities related to control and report any issues to the EICT lead.
  15. Support mechanical completion, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities in control areas.
  16. Report delays, failures, or gaps in control design to the EICT Lead and ensure corrective actions.
  17. Participate in meetings, audits, and inspections globally.
  18. Coordinate Lessons Learned with the Project Management Team.
  19. Close out TQs and Action Tracker items in PIMS or MOM.
  20. Collaborate with key disciplines and call on resources as needed to maintain quality and progress.
  21. Function as package responsible engineer for procurement packages.
  22. Perform other duties as required by the Engineering Manager & EICT Lead.
  23. Ensure all activities comply with company policies, contract requirements, and legal standards, prioritizing health and safety.
  24. Work with PDE operations and regulatory teams to ensure scope clarity and compliance, especially for control and instrumentation activities.
