The ideal candidate has over 15 years of experience in contracts management, preferably within the oil and gas sector, along with strong negotiation and communication skills.

Job DescriptionPosition: Contracts Manager Subcontractor Side (Oil & Gas Construction)Focus:Managing contracts held by the subcontractor NBTC with main contractors/EPC clients — pre & post award, claims, arbitration, insurance
Location:Abu Dhabi UAE.Position Overview:We are seeking an experienced Contracts Managerto manage and administer contracts from the subcontractor’s perspectiveon large-scale oil & gas construction projects. The candidate will be responsible for the full contract lifecycle with the main contractor/EPC client, including contract review, risk management, claims preparation and defense, insurance coordination, and dispute resolution.Key Responsibilities:Contract Management (Subcontractor Role):

  • Review and negotiate subcontract agreements issued by the main contractor/EPC client to ensure favorable terms and manageable risks for the subcontractor.
  • Ensure all contractual obligations (scope, schedule, deliverables, payment terms) are clearly understood and communicated internally.
  • Monitor compliance with contract terms and manage the flow of contractual documents, notices, and correspondence.
  • Manage subcontract amendments, variations, extensions of time, and contractual changes initiated by the client or subcontractor.

Claims & Disputes:

  • Prepare, submit, and defend claimsrelated to delays, scope changes, disruptions, and extra costs under subcontract agreements.
  • Lead dispute management and resolution efforts, including arbitration or mediation in coordination with legal counsel.
  • Ensure timely and accurate contractual notices are issued to preserve rights under the subcontract.

Insurance:

  • Manage insurance obligations as required by the main contract and subcontract, including Contractor’s All Risk (CAR)and motor insurance for subcontractor operations.
  • Understand and apply primary vs. secondary insuranceprinciples in subcontractor insurance claims.
  • Liaise with insurance brokers to ensure adequate coverage and support claims processing.

Coordination & Reporting:

  • Collaborate closely with project teams, commercial, legal, finance, and site operations to ensure contract compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Maintain accurate contract documentation and provide regular reporting on contract status, claims, insurance, and disputes.
  • Support audits and compliance reviews related to subcontract contracts.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business, Engineering, or related field.
  • Advanced certifications in contract management, arbitration, or legal studies are advantageous.

Experience:

  • 15+ years in contracts management working on behalf of subcontractors in oil & gas or construction projects. The candidates must have experience inStatic and rotaryprefered.
  • Experience managing subcontract agreements with EPC/main contractors— from contract review through claims and dispute resolution.
  • Strong background in claims management, contract risk assessment, and insurance coordinationfrom the subcontractor viewpoint.
  • Familiarity with regional contract law and construction industry practices.

Key Skills:

  • Expertise in interpreting and negotiating subcontract terms and conditions.
  • Skilled in preparing and defending claims against main contractors/EPCs.
  • Knowledge of insurance requirements for subcontractors and claims handling.
