Job Description:

Mapa Group is seeking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Contracts Engineer with a proven track record in construction contract management. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing and managing contractual activities throughout the entire project lifecycle—from tendering and contract award to administration, variation control, claims evaluation, and final closeout. The role requires close collaboration with various internal departments such as procurement, design, construction, stakeholder engagement, legal, and finance to ensure effective contract execution and risk mitigation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and manage construction contracts in line with applicable laws, regulations, and project requirements, ensuring full compliance at all stages.
  • Draft, review, and interpret contractual documentation, including correspondence, notices, and change orders, ensuring alignment with project goals and contractual obligations.
  • Assist in the preparation, evaluation, and negotiation of claims, variations, and contractual disputes.
  • Support tender processes by preparing contract-specific documentation, evaluating commercial terms, and coordinating bid clarifications.
  • Collaborate with procurement and pre-qualification teams to assess vendor capabilities and ensure alignment with contractual requirements.
  • Participate in risk assessments, contract reviews, and project meetings, offering contractual advice and early warnings where necessary.
  • Facilitate the orderly and compliant closeout of completed contracts, including final account settlements and contractual discharge documentation.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices and legal developments in construction contracts and procurement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a closely related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience in contract administration and construction contract management, ideally within large-scale infrastructure or EPC projects.
  • Solid understanding of contract law, procurement workflows, commercial negotiations, and tendering procedures under various contract forms (e.g., FIDIC, NEC, bespoke forms).
  • Strong analytical skills and a detail-oriented approach to contract risk identification and resolution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft clear contractual documentation and liaise effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Familiarity with both international and regional (GCC/UAE) contractual and legal frameworks.
  • Professional certification or training in contract or construction law (e.g., RICS, CIArb, or similar) is an advantage.
  • Prior experience working in the UAE or similar markets is preferred.
