Job description

Job Purpose:

The Contracts Engineer will play a key role in supporting contract lifecycle management for Solar PV projects, Switchgear manufacturing, and ESCO & MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) contracts. The role involves reviewing, drafting, negotiating, and ensuring compliance with contract terms, helping to mitigate risks, and supporting stakeholders throughout the contract process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure contracts align with organizational policies, relevant laws, and regulatory requirements, mitigating any potential risks before finalization.
  • Contract Drafting & Review: Assist in drafting, reviewing, and finalizing various contract documents, ensuring accuracy and adherence to legal and company standards.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Act as a liaison between the Contracts Manager, vendors, clients, and internal teams to facilitate contract discussions and resolve related issues.
  • Requirements Gathering: Consolidate and document contract requirements, specifications, and deliverables from all involved parties.
  • Contract Administration: Support contract execution, monitor lifecycle stages, issue correspondences, track key milestones, and ensure all contractual obligations are met.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate contract records, including all relevant documentation such as amendments, renewals, and compliance audits. Generate reports on contract performance and key metrics.
  • Database & Record Management: Maintain a structured contract database for quick retrieval and reference, ensuring proper document filing and integrity.
  • Contract Review Support: Assist in evaluating contract terms related to Solar PV, Switchgear manufacturing, and MEP projects to ensure they meet industry standards and company policies.
  • Cost Management Assistance: Monitor and track contract-related costs, ensuring alignment with budgets. Assist in reviewing cost reports, invoices, and payment schedules to prevent financial discrepancies.
  • Dispute Resolution Support: Identify contract deviations, potential disputes, and assist in providing recommendations to resolve conflicts efficiently.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track project progress against contract obligations, ensuring timely execution and compliance with all terms.
  • Legal & Regulatory Updates: Stay updated on changes in relevant laws and industry standards affecting contracts and provide recommendations for compliance adjustments.

Skills and Qualifications:

Education: A degree or diploma in Engineering, Quantity Surveying (QS), or a related field.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience as a Project or Contracts Engineer.
  • Familiarity with contract management in Solar PV, Switchgear, and MEP industries is a plus.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of contract terms, commercial laws, and industry best practices.
  • Proficiency in contract drafting, negotiation, and risk assessment.
  • Experience with contract management software and MS Office Suite.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and proactive problem-solving.
  • Ability to manage multiple contracts simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
