Contract Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Contract Engineer with 10–15 years of proven experience in contract administration, commercial management, claims management, and project contractual compliance. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all contractual aspects of projects, ensuring compliance with contract terms and conditions, mitigating contractual risks, and supporting project teams throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review, interpret and administer project contracts, subcontracts and consultancy agreements; ensure compliance with contractual obligations, project specifications and applicable regulations.
  • Identify, evaluate and mitigate contractual and commercial risks.
  • Prepare, review and negotiate contract terms, amendments, variations and change orders.
  • Manage contractual correspondence between clients, consultants, contractors and subcontractors.
  • Evaluate claims, variations, extensions of time (EOT) requests and dispute-related matters.
  • Support project teams in resolving contractual issues and providing contractual advice.
  • Monitor project progress and identify events that may impact contract performance.
  • Maintain comprehensive contract records, documentation and contractual registers.
  • Coordinate with project controls, planning, procurement, legal and finance departments.
  • Assist in tender evaluations, bid analysis and contract award recommendations.
  • Review payment applications, invoices and commercial submissions for contractual compliance.
  • Participate in negotiations, dispute avoidance, dispute resolution and settlement discussions.
  • Prepare contractual reports and presentations for management review.
  • Ensure all contract activities align with company policies and project objectives.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Law or a related discipline.
  • 10–15 years of experience in contract administration and commercial management.
  • Strong experience in construction, infrastructure, oil & gas, industrial EPC or MEP projects.
  • Thorough understanding of contract management principles and commercial practices.
  • Strong knowledge of contract interpretation, claims management and dispute resolution.
  • Experience managing large-scale projects and multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong report-writing and communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and contract management systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with FIDIC Contracts (Red Book, Yellow Book, Silver Book, etc.).
  • Professional certifications such as MRICS, PMP, CCM, CIArb, or equivalent.
  • Experience in UAE/GCC projects.
  • Familiarity with arbitration, mediation, and contractual dispute procedures.
  • Knowledge of procurement and tendering processes.
