The Consultant in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation leads the evaluation and long-term management of patients whose illness, injury or disability affects movement, function and independence. The role combines medical assessment with structured rehabilitation planning for patients recovering from musculoskeletal, neurological and chronic disabling conditions. Working across a multidisciplinary rehabilitation service, the consultant coordinates physicians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, psychologists and rehabilitation nurses around measurable functional goals. The position has a direct impact on recovery, disability reduction, safe reintegration into daily activities and long-term quality of life.
The position requires an MBBS, MD or equivalent medical degree from an accredited institution together with Board Certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Candidates should have at least five years of post-certification experience, preferably within a hospital, multidisciplinary rehabilitation centre or specialist physical medicine service. The successful consultant should demonstrate broad expertise in the rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries, neurological disorders, physical disabilities and chronic conditions that affect mobility or independence. Strong knowledge of modern rehabilitation technologies, therapeutic modalities, assistive devices and evidence-based recovery techniques is essential. The role requires the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and translate medical findings into practical, measurable functional goals. Experience coordinating physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, psychological support and rehabilitation nursing is particularly valuable. Excellent communication and patient-counseling skills are required when discussing recovery expectations, functional limitations and long-term adaptation strategies. Fluency in English is required, while Arabic language capability would be advantageous.
Rehabilitation medicine is becoming increasingly important as healthcare systems place greater emphasis on recovery, functional independence and long-term quality of life after illness or injury. This opportunity allows an experienced consultant to manage complex rehabilitation cases while leading multidisciplinary programs supported by advanced therapeutic technologies and modern facilities. The position provides competitive compensation and benefits together with a collaborative clinical environment, opportunities for research and continuing education, and access to evolving rehabilitation techniques. It also offers strong professional growth potential for a physician seeking to influence service development and functional outcomes within specialist rehabilitation care.
