Role Context
The Consultant Physician - Pediatric Rehabilitation will provide comprehensive rehabilitation medicine care for children requiring physical, cognitive, developmental, neurological, and functional support. The role has a direct impact on patient recovery, family confidence, therapy outcomes, and continuity of care by combining detailed assessment, structured treatment planning, therapy coordination, family education, and multidisciplinary teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive physical, cognitive, neurological, and developmental assessments for pediatric patients
- Develop individualized rehabilitation treatment plans based on diagnosis, functional needs, age, family goals, and long‑term care requirements
- Oversee and coordinate physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and other pediatric rehabilitation services
- Monitor patient progress regularly and adjust treatment plans according to clinical response and developmental milestones
- Collaborate with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, nurses, pediatricians, neurologists, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals
- Educate patients and families on rehabilitation goals, home exercise programs, mobility support, functional improvement, and long‑term care strategies
- Support children with developmental delays, neurological conditions, physical disabilities, post‑injury rehabilitation needs, and complex functional limitations
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation, treatment updates, progress notes, and care plans in line with DOH standards
- Stay updated with new developments, technologies, and best practices in pediatric rehabilitation medicine
- Contribute to patient safety, clinical quality, service improvement, and multidisciplinary rehabilitation care pathways
Ideal Profile
- Medical degree such as MBBS, MD, or equivalent from a recognized institution
- American Board Certification in Pediatric Rehabilitation is mandatory
- Minimum 5 years of consultant‑level experience in pediatric rehabilitation medicine
- Strong clinical expertise in pediatric rehabilitation therapies, developmental care, functional recovery, and long‑term patient management
- Experience working with children who have neurological, physical, developmental, and functional conditions
- Ability to lead rehabilitation planning in a fast‑paced multidisciplinary healthcare environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with children, families, and clinical teams
- Strong teamwork approach with therapists, physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals
- Fluency in English is required, while Arabic language skills are an advantage
- Commitment to patient‑centered care, family education, clinical safety, and continuous professional development
