Position Overview

Consultant – Pediatric PM&R in Dubai is a senior physician opportunity specializing in pediatric physical medicine and rehabilitation. The role focuses on diagnosing, treating, and managing infants, children, and adolescents with physical disabilities, developmental delays, neuromuscular disorders, musculoskeletal conditions, and long‑term rehabilitation needs through evidence‑based, family‑centered care.

Role Context

As Consultant – Pediatric PM&R, you will provide advanced pediatric rehabilitation services for young patients requiring functional recovery, mobility improvement, spasticity management, assistive device support, and multidisciplinary care coordination. Although the primary location is Dubai, the selected physician may support services within a multidisciplinary healthcare team in Abu Dhabi.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and manage pediatric patients with congenital, developmental, neurological, musculoskeletal, and acquired disabilities.
• Develop individualized rehabilitation treatment plans based on each child’s medical condition, functional goals, mobility needs, and long‑term care requirements.
• Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary rehabilitation programs involving physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, psychologists, nurses, orthotists, and other specialists.
• Manage pediatric rehabilitation cases involving cerebral palsy, spina bifida, muscular dystrophy, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, developmental delays, and autism‑related motor disorders.
• Provide specialist care for pediatric neurorehabilitation, musculoskeletal rehabilitation, mobility limitations, tone abnormalities, and functional impairment.
• Perform and supervise rehabilitation procedures including spasticity management, botulinum toxin injections, orthotic recommendations, and mobility assessments.
• Assess the need for assistive devices, mobility aids, braces, adaptive equipment, and advanced rehabilitation technologies.
• Monitor patient progress and adjust rehabilitation plans to improve functional independence, comfort, mobility, and quality of life.
• Provide family counseling, patient education, home‑care guidance, and long‑term rehabilitation planning.
• Collaborate with pediatricians, neurologists, orthopedic specialists, therapists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation, rehabilitation plans, procedure notes, progress reports, and follow‑up records in line with DOH regulations and hospital policies.
• Support clinical governance, patient safety, evidence‑based practice, departmental quality initiatives, and clinical audit activities.
• Participate in continuing medical education, case discussions, service improvement programs, and professional development activities.

Ideal Profile

• Medical degree (MBBS, MD, or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
• Board certification or completion of a recognized residency and fellowship in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
• Subspecialty expertise or strong clinical experience in Pediatric Rehabilitation.
• DOH Abu Dhabi license or eligibility as Consultant PM&R.
• Minimum 5–7 years of post‑board experience in pediatric rehabilitation and physical medicine and rehabilitation practice.
• Strong expertise in pediatric neurorehabilitation, musculoskeletal rehabilitation, functional assessment, and multidisciplinary rehabilitation management.
• Experience managing children with cerebral palsy, spina bifida, muscular dystrophy, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, developmental delays, and complex mobility needs.
• Training in pediatric spasticity management and botulinum toxin injections is preferred.
• Experience with ultrasound‑guided procedures is an advantage.
• Knowledge of advanced rehabilitation technologies, assistive devices, orthotic support, and mobility equipment is preferred.
• Previous experience within internationally accredited healthcare facilities is an advantage.
• Strong leadership, communication, family counseling, and multidisciplinary coordination skills.
• Fluency in English is required; Arabic language skills are an advantage.
