Astra ProMed in Abu Dhabi is seeking a Consultant Pediatric Surgeon to lead pediatric surgical care across congenital and neonatal conditions. The role emphasizes minimally invasive approaches, multidisciplinary collaboration, and high standards of patient safety.

The successful candidate will have international qualifications and 5–10 years of post-specialization experience, enabling leadership in complex pediatric surgeries and delivery of excellent patient care in a premier healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• Must hold MBBS/MD and pediatric surgery qualification.
• Postgraduate pediatric surgery qualification or subspecialty training.
• Board-certified or equivalent consultant-level license.
• Internationally recognized qualifications are desirable.
• 5–10 years of post-specialization experience.
• Eligible for DOH Abu Dhabi pediatric surgery license.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage congenital abnormalities and pediatric surgical conditions.
• Perform general pediatric surgeries within privileges.
• Evaluate neonatal GI abnormalities and congenital malformations.
• Perform laparoscopic and minimally invasive pediatric surgery.
• Manage pediatric surgical emergencies and abdominal trauma.
• Conduct pre-operative assessments and plan treatments.
• Interpret ultrasound, CT, MRI, and pediatric imaging.
• Provide post-operative care and manage complications.
• Collaborate with pediatricians, neonatologists, anesthesiologists, and teams.
• Communicate with parents about procedures and recovery.
• Ensure compliance with DOH regulations and infection control.

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Consultant Pediatric Surgeon to join a leading healthcare facility in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in pediatric surgical procedures, neonatal surgery, congenital abnormalities, and minimally invasive pediatric surgery. Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage congenital abnormalities, pediatric surgical conditions, and neonatal surgical disorders
• Perform general pediatric surgical procedures, including appendectomy, hernia repair, and abdominal surgery, within authorized clinical privileges
• Evaluate and manage neonatal gastrointestinal abnormalities, intestinal obstruction, and congenital malformations
• Perform laparoscopic and minimally invasive pediatric surgery, where appropriately trained and credentialed
• Manage pediatric surgical emergencies, abdominal trauma, and acute surgical conditions
• Conduct comprehensive pre-operative assessments and develop individualized surgical treatment plans
• Interpret diagnostic investigations, including ultrasound, CT scans, MRI, and pediatric imaging studies
• Provide post-operative care, monitor recovery, and manage surgical complications
• Collaborate with pediatricians, neonatologists, anesthesiologists, pediatric intensivists, and multidisciplinary surgical teams
• Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding surgical procedures, treatment options, and recovery
• Ensure compliance with DOH regulations, pediatric surgical safety protocols, infection control, and patient safety standards

Requirements

Qualifications

MBBS/MD or equivalent recognized medical degree.

• Recognized postgraduate qualification in Pediatric Surgery, or an accepted surgical qualification with recognized pediatric surgery subspecialty training
• Board certification or equivalent recognized consultant-level qualification
• American Board, UK CCT, Canadian, Australian, European, or other internationally recognized qualifications are highly desirable
• Minimum 5-10 years of relevant post-specialization experience preferred
• Strong expertise in neonatal surgery, pediatric abdominal surgery, congenital abnormalities, and emergency pediatric surgical management
• Experience in minimally invasive pediatric surgery is highly desirable
• Eligible for DOH Consultant Pediatric Surgery classification/license in Abu Dhabi, subject to applicable UAE PQR requirements
