Qualifications

• Must hold MBBS or equivalent medical degree.
• Specialty qualification in Plastic Surgery (ABPS / UK CCT/CCST / DOH-recognized) required.
• Minimum 3 years post-board/post-CCT as a consultant; 5 years post-specialty in tertiary care; pediatric plastic surgery experience.

Responsibilities

• Deliver consultant-level care in pediatric plastic and reconstructive surgery.
• Perform procedures including cleft lip/palate repair and congenital anomalies.
• Manage pre-operative, operative, and post-operative care; on-call cover.
• Collaborate with pediatricians, ENT, orthodontists, and other specialties.
• Supervise junior medical staff and participate in teaching and quality improvement.

Job description

A leading government healthcare organization in Abu Dhabi is seeking an experienced Consultant Pediatric Plastic Surgeon.

The Consultant Pediatric Plastic Surgeon will provide specialized surgical care for infants children and adolescents requiring plastic and reconstructive procedures. The role focuses on congenital acquired and traumatic conditions in the pediatric population in compliance with Abu Dhabi DOH PQR and hospital clinical governance standards.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

• Deliver consultant-level care in pediatric plastic and reconstructive surgery.
• Perform a wide range of pediatric procedures including:
  • Cleft lip and palate repair
  • Congenital anomalies of the face hands and body
  • Pediatric burns and scar reconstruction
  • Soft tissue reconstruction
  • Pediatric facial trauma
• Conduct pre-operative assessments operative management and post-operative follow-up.
• Provide emergency and on-call surgical cover as per hospital rota.

Multidisciplinary Collaboration

• Work closely with pediatricians ENT orthodontists speech therapists and other specialties.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and clinical case discussions.

Academic & Governance Responsibilities

• Supervise and mentor junior medical staff.
• Participate in teaching audits and quality improvement initiatives.
• Maintain accurate and compliant clinical documentation.
• Adhere to DOH and hospital policies and ethical standards.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience (DOH PQR Consultant Level)

Mandatory Qualifications

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree.
• Recognized Specialty Qualification in Plastic Surgery such as:
  • American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS)
  • UK CCT / CCST
  • Canadian or equivalent DOH-recognized qualification
  • Irish Board
  • Australian Board

Experience

• Minimum 3 years post-board / post-CCT experience as a Consultant OR
• Minimum 5 years post-specialty experience in a tertiary care setting.
• Demonstrated experience in pediatric plastic surgery.

Licensing

• Eligible for or holding a DOH Consultant License Plastic Surgery.
