Job Description

The Consultant for the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is responsible for providing specialized medical care to critically ill infants, children, and adolescents. This role involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest standards of patient care, conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and providing guidance and support to nursing staff.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough assessments and develop treatment plans for critically ill pediatric patients.
  • Monitor patient conditions and provide timely interventions.
  • Perform necessary procedures (e.g., intubation, central line placement).
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team for comprehensive patient care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients' families regarding treatment plans.
  • Participate in quality assurance and improvement initiatives.
  • Stay current with the latest research and advancements in pediatric critical care.
  • Contribute to the development and revision of policies and protocols for the PICU.
  • Attend departmental meetings and participate in case reviews.
  • Be available for on-call responsibilities during off-hours.

Qualifications

  • Education: MBBS and Board certification in Pediatric or Pediatric Critical Care Medicine
  • License: Valid UAE license or eligibility.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of post-fellowship experience in Pediatric Intensive Care Medicine.
  • Proven experience in managing a wide range of critically ill pediatric patients, including those with respiratory failure, sepsis, and multi-organ dysfunction.
  • Hands-on experience with essential procedures such as intubation, central line placement, and other invasive techniques commonly performed in the PICU
