Job Description
Job Overview: The Consultant Paediatric ER will lead the delivery of specialized emergency care for infants, children, and adolescents in a fast-paced hospital emergency department. This role involves assessing, diagnosing, and managing a wide range of acute pediatric conditions, ensuring rapid and appropriate interventions. The consultant will provide clinical leadership, supervise junior doctors, and work collaboratively with nursing staff and multidisciplinary teams to maintain high standards of patient care. This position requires advanced clinical expertise, a calm and decisive approach in critical situations, and a commitment to continuous improvement in pediatric emergency services.
Responsibilities:
Leading the assessment, stabilization, and treatment of critically ill or injured pediatric patients in the emergency department.
Making prompt and accurate diagnoses, initiating evidence-based treatment plans, and determining appropriate patient disposition.
Supervising and mentoring junior doctors, residents, and emergency medicine staff in pediatric emergency care protocols.
Collaborating with pediatricians, surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other specialists for coordinated patient management.
Ensuring effective communication with patients' families, providing clear explanations and compassionate support during emergencies.
Participating in departmental audits, clinical governance activities, and quality improvement initiatives.
Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of pediatric emergency medicine practices, including resuscitation techniques and trauma care.
Contributing to the development and implementation of clinical guidelines and training programs for emergency staff.
Requirements:
Medical degree (MBBS, MD, or equivalent) with board certification in Pediatrics and subspecialty training in Pediatric Emergency Medicine.
Minimum of 5-7 years of clinical experience in pediatric emergency departments, including leadership roles.
Valid medical license in UAE.
Advanced Pediatric Life Support (APLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is essential.
Proven expertise in pediatric resuscitation, trauma care, and acute illness management.
Excellent leadership and decision-making skills in high-pressure environments.
Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, especially in high-stress or emotionally charged situations.
Commitment to continuous education and improvement in pediatric emergency medicine standards.
