Job summary

Astra ProMed in Sharjah, UAE, seeks a highly qualified Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon to join our leading healthcare facility. The role covers trauma, joint replacement, and musculoskeletal care, with opportunities to mentor junior surgeons and work with a multidisciplinary team.

You will perform hip and knee replacements when credentialed, oversee complex fracture care, and contribute to pre-operative planning, imaging interpretation, and postoperative management.

Qualifications

• MBBS/MD or equivalent recognized medical degree.
• Postgraduate qualification in Orthopedic Surgery.
• Board certification or equivalent consultant-level qualification.
• Internationally recognised qualifications desirable (e.g., American Board, UK CCT, Canadian, Australian, European).
• 5–10 years of relevant post-specialization experience preferred.
• Strong expertise in orthopedic surgery, trauma management, joint replacement, and minimally invasive procedures.
• Eligible for MOHAP Consultant Orthopedic Surgery classification/license in Sharjah.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage musculoskeletal disorders, fractures, joint diseases, and orthopedic injuries
• Perform orthopedic surgical procedures, including fracture fixation, joint reconstruction, and arthroscopic surgery
• Evaluate and manage sports injuries, ligament tears, tendon injuries, and degenerative joint conditions
• Perform hip and knee replacement surgeries, where appropriately trained and credentialed
• Manage orthopedic trauma cases, including complex fractures and emergency injuries
• Conduct comprehensive pre-operative assessments and develop individualized surgical treatment plans
• Interpret diagnostic investigations, including X-rays, CT scans, MRI, and musculoskeletal imaging
• Provide post-operative care, monitor recovery, and manage surgical complications
• Collaborate with physiotherapists, radiologists, anesthesiologists, rehabilitation specialists, and other healthcare professionals
• Supervise and mentor junior surgeons, residents, and orthopedic team members
• Ensure compliance with MOHAP regulations, surgical safety protocols, infection control, and patient safety standards

• Eligible for the appropriate MOHAP Consultant Orthopedic Surgery classification/license in Sharjah, subject to applicable UAE PQR requirements and facility jurisdiction
