Key Responsibilities
  • Manage normal pregnancies from antenatal assessment through delivery and postnatal follow-up.
  • Provide specialist care for women with high-risk pregnancies.
  • Conduct comprehensive antenatal consultations and monitor pregnancy progression.
  • Assess maternal health risks that may affect pregnancy or delivery.
  • Monitor fetal growth, development and wellbeing throughout pregnancy.
  • Develop individualized management plans for complex obstetric cases.
  • Supervise labor and make timely decisions regarding progression and intervention.
  • Lead delivery management according to maternal and fetal clinical status.
  • Perform cesarean sections within approved consultant privileges.
  • Provide emergency obstetric intervention when acute complications arise.
  • Respond to maternal or fetal deterioration requiring urgent escalation of care.
  • Coordinate maternal-fetal management with relevant subspecialists.
  • Work closely with neonatology teams when newborn complications or preterm delivery are anticipated.
  • Collaborate with anesthesiologists on operative deliveries and high-risk maternal cases.
  • Coordinate effectively with nursing and midwifery teams throughout antenatal and intrapartum care.
  • Provide postnatal consultations and monitor maternal recovery following childbirth.
  • Communicate diagnoses, treatment plans and delivery options clearly to patients.
  • Counsel patients and families regarding pregnancy risks and anticipated outcomes.
  • Maintain complete and accurate clinical documentation.
