Job summary

Client of Dr Expat is seeking a Consultant General Ophthalmologist to diagnose, treat, and surgically manage a wide range of eye conditions in a UAE hospital. The role covers outpatient and inpatient ophthalmology with emphasis on safety, clinical excellence and evidence-based care.

You will perform cataract and general ophthalmic procedures, handle emergencies, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient outcomes and strict regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Licensed as a Consultant General Ophthalmologist.
• Valid DOH Consultant License or eligibility for DOH Consultant licensure.
• Experience in a tertiary care hospital setting; clinic-only experience will not be considered.
• Strong surgical case mix with extensive ophthalmic surgical experience.
• Excellent clinical decision-making and patient management skills.
• Strong communication and multidisciplinary teamwork abilities.
• Commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous professional development.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive ophthalmic examinations and develop individualized treatment plans
• Perform cataract surgery and other general ophthalmic surgical procedures
• Manage emergency ophthalmology cases and complex referrals
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated patient care
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with DOH and hospital standards
• Participate in clinical governance quality improvement and continuing medical education
• Deliver compassionate patient-focused care with excellent clinical outcomes
