Consultant Fetal Medicine - Fetal Intervention is a specialised role that focuses on high‑risk pregnancy care, advanced fetal imaging, prenatal diagnostics, and fetal intervention procedures. The consultant diagnoses and manages complex fetal conditions while working closely with obstetricians, neonatologists, geneticists, and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals to deliver precise assessment, compassionate family counseling, and individualised care plans.

Salary: AED 65000‑95000 (estimated, confirmed with the employer)

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive fetal medicine services for high‑risk pregnancies and complex fetal conditions.
• Perform detailed fetal assessments, including anomaly scans, fetal echocardiography, Doppler studies, fetal growth assessment, and prenatal diagnostic reviews.
• Support genetic testing pathways and interpret findings in collaboration with genetics and obstetric teams.
• Collaborate with maternal‑fetal medicine specialists, obstetricians, neonatologists, geneticists, pediatric specialists, radiologists, and other clinical teams to develop individualised management plans.
• Perform prenatal interventions such as fetal blood sampling, intrauterine transfusions, fetal shunt placement, and other clinically indicated fetal procedures.
• Provide clear and compassionate counselling to patients and families regarding fetal diagnosis, prognosis, treatment options, procedural risks, and expected outcomes.
• Maintain accurate and detailed clinical documentation in line with DHA standards, hospital policies, and clinical governance requirements.
• Ensure effective communication with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams throughout assessment, planning, intervention, and follow‑up care.
• Stay updated with advances in fetal medicine, prenatal diagnostics, fetal imaging, genetic screening, and fetal therapy.
• Contribute to departmental research, publications, academic discussions, clinical audits, and continuing medical education activities.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical governance processes, and departmental meetings.
• Support training and mentorship of junior doctors, sonographers, nurses, and allied health staff involved in fetal medicine services.

Ideal Profile

The ideal candidate is a highly experienced Consultant Fetal Medicine physician with strong expertise in complex pregnancy assessment, fetal anomaly diagnosis, advanced fetal imaging, prenatal diagnostics, and fetal intervention. The role requires excellent counselling skills, calm clinical judgment, and the ability to support families through sensitive and complex pregnancy care decisions.

• Medical degree such as MBBS, MD, or equivalent from an accredited institution.
• Specialist qualification in Fetal Medicine from a recognised training programme.
• Board Certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
• Minimum 5 years of post‑qualification experience in fetal medicine.
• Experience in a tertiary hospital or specialised fetal medicine unit is preferred.
• Proven expertise in advanced fetal imaging, anomaly scans, fetal echocardiography, Doppler studies, prenatal diagnostics, and fetal interventions.
• Strong experience in patient counselling, family communication, multidisciplinary planning, and high‑risk pregnancy management.
• Ability to work effectively with obstetrics, neonatology, genetics, paediatric specialties, and allied healthcare teams.
• Fluency in English is required; Arabic language skills are an advantage.
