The position plays an important role in improving maternal and fetal outcomes by delivering timely assessments, supporting clinical planning, and guiding families through sensitive medical information with clarity and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive fetal medicine consultation for high‑risk pregnancies, suspected fetal abnormalities, and complex maternal‑fetal cases.
• Perform detailed fetal assessments, including anomaly scans, fetal echocardiography, Doppler studies, and advanced prenatal screening.
• Interpret diagnostic findings accurately and support individualized management plans for mother and baby.
• Work closely with obstetricians, neonatologists, geneticists, maternal‑fetal medicine specialists, and other clinical teams.
• Conduct prenatal diagnostic and interventional procedures such as fetal blood sampling, intrauterine transfusion, fetal shunt placement, and related specialist procedures when clinically indicated.
• Counsel patients and families on fetal diagnosis, prognosis, treatment pathways, risks, and expected outcomes in a clear and supportive manner.
• Maintain complete and accurate clinical documentation in line with hospital standards and regulatory expectations.
• Participate in multidisciplinary case reviews, departmental meetings, quality improvement programs, and clinical governance activities.
• Contribute to research, academic development, publications, and evidence‑based improvements in fetal medicine services.
• Mentor junior doctors, sonographers, nurses, and allied healthcare staff involved in prenatal and fetal care.

Ideal Profile

• Medical degree such as MBBS, MD, or equivalent from an accredited medical institution.
• Specialist qualification in Fetal Medicine from a recognised training program.
• Board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
• Minimum 5 years of post‑qualification experience in fetal medicine.
• Previous experience in a tertiary hospital, women’s hospital, or dedicated fetal medicine unit is highly preferred.
• Strong expertise in fetal imaging, prenatal diagnostics, fetal anomaly assessment, and fetal intervention procedures.
• Confident clinical judgement in managing high‑risk pregnancy cases and complex fetal conditions.
• Excellent communication and counselling skills for supporting patients and families through sensitive diagnoses.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
• Fluency in English is required, while Arabic language skills are an advantage.
