Role Context

The Consultant Endocrinologist provides specialist assessment, diagnosis, and long-term treatment for patients with complex hormonal and metabolic conditions. The role requires strong clinical judgment to interpret endocrine symptoms, laboratory abnormalities, hormonal assays, and imaging findings while developing treatment plans tailored to each patient 's medical profile. Fluent Arabic communication is an important part of the position, allowing the consultant to explain diagnoses, treatment options, medication plans, and lifestyle recommendations clearly to Arabic-speaking patients and families. The physician also works with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care for patients whose endocrine disorders intersect with cardiovascular, renal, metabolic, or other medical conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess patients presenting with suspected endocrine or metabolic disorders.
• Diagnose and manage Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes mellitus.
• Develop individualized diabetes treatment strategies based on clinical status and glycemic control.
• Initiate and adjust insulin therapy when clinically indicated.
• Monitor diabetes complications and coordinate appropriate specialist follow-up.
• Diagnose and treat thyroid disorders including hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism.
• Evaluate thyroid nodules and other structural thyroid abnormalities.
• Interpret thyroid function tests and relevant imaging findings.
• Diagnose adrenal disorders affecting hormone production and metabolic function.
• Evaluate patients with suspected adrenal insufficiency or hormone excess.
• Assess pituitary disorders and related hormonal abnormalities.
• Order appropriate endocrine function tests for complex presentations.
• Interpret hormonal assays in the context of clinical findings.
• Review endocrine-related imaging and integrate results into diagnostic planning.
• Develop personalized treatment plans using current evidence-based protocols.
• Monitor treatment response and modify therapy where necessary.
• Provide long-term management for chronic endocrine conditions.
• Conduct specialist outpatient endocrinology consultations.
• Provide inpatient endocrine consultation when required.
• Evaluate complex cases requiring multidisciplinary medical input.
• Collaborate with internal medicine physicians on patients with multiple chronic conditions.

Ideal Profile

The position requires an MD, MBBS, or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution together with advanced specialist training in Endocrinology. American Board Certification in Endocrinology is mandatory. Candidates should have a minimum of five years of post-board experience working as an Endocrinologist within a hospital, specialist clinic, or established multidisciplinary healthcare environment. The successful physician should demonstrate advanced clinical expertise in diabetes, thyroid disease, adrenal disorders, pituitary disease, and other complex hormonal conditions. Strong competence in interpreting hormonal assays, endocrine laboratory investigations, and relevant imaging is essential.
