Qualifications

Responsibilities

About the Role

The Consultant Emergency Medicine Physician will provide consultant-level care for patients requiring urgent and emergency assessment. The position involves managing a broad case mix, leading resuscitation and trauma responses, supervising emergency procedures, coordinating specialist referrals, and making time-critical clinical decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide consultant-level emergency medical care to adult patients and, where applicable, pediatric patients.
• Conduct rapid clinical assessment, diagnosis, stabilization, and treatment of acute and life-threatening conditions.
• Manage medical, surgical, traumatic, and critical emergency presentations.
• Perform and supervise advanced airway management and endotracheal intubation.
• Lead and participate in cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
• Perform procedural sedation when clinically indicated.
• Undertake central venous and arterial line placement.
• Perform chest tube insertion within clinical privileges.
• Use point-of-care ultrasound to support emergency assessment and clinical decision-making.
• Manage wounds and perform suturing procedures.
• Assess and manage fractures and dislocations.
• Lead and participate in trauma and resuscitation management.
• Manage acute cardiac, neurological, respiratory, abdominal, infectious, and toxicological emergencies.
• Provide appropriate triage, stabilization, referral, admission, and discharge planning.
• Coordinate patient care with specialists, intensivists, surgeons, and other multidisciplinary teams.
• Participate in Code Blue, trauma response, and other hospital-wide emergency protocols.
• Ensure accurate clinical documentation, structured handovers, and appropriate follow-up arrangements.
• Promote patient safety and adherence to emergency department clinical protocols.
• Participate in clinical audits, quality-improvement initiatives, research, and continuing medical education.
• Supervise and mentor emergency physicians, residents, and junior medical staff where required.

Required Qualifications

• MBBS, MD, MBChB, or equivalent medical degree.
• American Board Certification in Emergency Medicine or UK CCT in Emergency Medicine.
• Valid UAE professional license or eligibility for licensing in Dubai.
• Good professional standing with the relevant medical licensing authority.

Experience

• Consultant-level experience in Emergency Medicine.
• Strong experience working in a high-volume emergency department or tertiary-care hospital.
• Demonstrated expertise in resuscitation, trauma management, acute medical emergencies, and emergency procedures.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary emergency and resuscitation teams is highly desirable.
