JOB DESCRIPTION

Department : Tax

Designation : Consultant

Reports to : Assistant Manager / Manager / Senior Manager - depends on project

Typical Experience / Qualifications :

Recognised Degree and / or relevant Postgraduate / Professional Qualification in Accounting, Tax, Business, Economics or Law related fields.

3+ years of relevant experience in the corporate tax compliance and / or tax advisory space. Experience working for a Big 4 accounting firm is an added advantage.

Job Role and Responsibilities :

  • Assisting and advising clients (including other KPMG practices and offices) in connection with domestic Corporate Tax and international tax issues.
  • Delivers high quality tax engagements for assistant manager / manager / senior manager review in a timely manner.
  • Starts to build relationships with other functions and network offices, as well as lawyers, investment managers, and other relevant external contact networks.
  • Coordinates with other offices in a multi-office engagement, and reviews inputs received from such offices such that the overall deliverable can be provided to senior management for review in a timely manner.
  • Is aware of and ensures that risk processes are adhered to at all times; consults internally and with the risk team for engagement and or client processes that deviate from the standard.
  • Maintaining relations with clients.

Relevant Skills and Behaviors :

  • In-depth knowledge of tax principles.
  • Knowledge of tax accounting.
  • Build experience in business development, client relationship, and client management.
  • Strong analytical skills, commercial awareness, and a flexible approach, combined with the ability to work as part of multiple client teams simultaneously.
  • Assist superiors in identifying targets; assist in preparing action plans for developing the client and implementation of the plan; able to identify opportunities for cross-selling work of other functions.
  • Build risk management knowledge and application including documentation and learn to identify issues that need to be escalated for consideration to managers.
  • Develop report writing skills including the ability to write tax reports and opinions.
  • Develop project management skills including coordinating with multiple teams across various jurisdictions.

Person Specifications :

  • Good academic record.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (report writing, presentations).
  • Good interpersonal and teamwork skills.

Linguistic Skills :

  • Fluent English - Verbal & written; Arabic skills are an added advantage.
