Job summary

Astra ProMed in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and the Al Dhafra Region seeks a highly skilled consultant anesthesiology and pain management specialist to deliver comprehensive anesthesia care and advanced pain management across surgical and medical cases.

Qualifications

• Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent).
• Completion of an accredited residency in anesthesiology.
• Fellowship or subspecialty training in pain management, chronic pain medicine, or regional anesthesia.
• Board certification or equivalent qualification in anesthesiology.
• DOH license or eligibility is preferred.
• Internationally trained candidates meeting DOH licensing requirements are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Provide anesthesia services for elective, emergency, and complex procedures.
• Conduct pre-anesthetic assessments and formulate individualized anesthesia plans.
• Administer general, regional, MAC, and sedation techniques.
• Monitor perioperative patients and manage post-anesthesia recovery.
• Evaluate and treat acute and cancer-related pain using evidence-based methods.
• Perform nerve blocks, epidural/facet injections, RF ablation, and imaging-guided interventions when credentialed.
• Collaborate with surgeons, intensivists, rehab specialists, oncologists and other teams.
• Participate in APS, perioperative medicine, and on-call coverage.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety protocols, and guidelines.
• Maintain documentation and contribute to QA, audits, and CME.
• Mentor junior physicians and allied staff.

Job summary

We are seeking a highly skilled consultant anesthesia and pain management to join a leading healthcare provider in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and the Al Dhafra Region. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive anesthesia services and advanced pain management for surgical, medical, and chronic pain patients while ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and quality care.

Key responsibilities

• Provide anesthesia services for elective, emergency, and complex surgical procedures across multiple specialties.
• Conduct comprehensive pre-anesthetic assessments and formulate individualized anesthesia plans.
• Administer general, regional, monitored anesthesia care (MAC), and sedation techniques.
• Monitor patients throughout the perioperative period and manage post-anesthesia recovery.
• Evaluate and treat patients with acute, chronic, and cancer-related pain using evidence-based medical and interventional pain management techniques.
• Perform pain management procedures, including nerve blocks, epidural and facet joint injections, radiofrequency ablation, and ultrasound- or fluoroscopy-guided interventions, where credentialed.
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, intensivists, emergency physicians, rehabilitation specialists, physiotherapists, oncologists, and other multidisciplinary teams.
• Participate in acute pain service (APS), perioperative medicine, and on-call anesthesia coverage as required.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, patient safety protocols, infection control standards, and international anesthesia guidelines.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and contribute to quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, research, and continuing medical education activities.
• Mentor junior physicians, residents, and allied healthcare professionals.
