Construction Manager

Progesys is a leading company known for its exceptional expertise in managing industrial projects and ensuring their smooth transition from construction to operation. Established in Laval, Canada, in 2002, Progesys also operates in the United States, the Middle East, Asia, and South America.

As a Construction Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all construction activities, from planning and execution to monitoring, control, and project closeout. You will ensure that the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead constructability reviews with engineering teams for efficient planning.
  • Review engineering packages and optimize construction lot definitions.
  • Assess and monitor construction costs, ensuring alignment with the budget.
  • Implement construction procedures, including change orders and quality management.
  • Approve project schedules, track milestones, and ensure contractors meet timelines.
  • Collaborate with purchasing to negotiate and award contracts, optimizing costs and turnaround.
  • Ensure all required permits are obtained before work begins.
  • Oversee construction strategies, safety programs, and site activity coordination.
  • Coordinate with HSE and environmental teams to ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.
  • Provide regular schedule updates and develop mitigation plans as needed.
  • Supervise contract administration, lead project staff, and approve shop drawings.
  • Ensure efficient work execution, material management, and site cleanliness.
  • Monitor site performance and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Oversee quality control, manage change orders, and ensure proper contract closure.
  • Manage labor relations, resolve issues, and communicate with stakeholders.
  • Identify risks related to costs, schedules, quality, safety, or environment.
  • Provide technical advice and ensure team understanding of project scope.
  • Ensure effective communication with all parties and government authorities.
  • Review crane and lifting device management plans and ensure site logistics are organized.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (Required)
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a similar role (Required)
  • Experience with heavy industry projects, such as steel, oil & gas, mining, etc.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong initiative and autonomy, with the ability to lead by example
  • Excellent time management and ability to prioritize tasks effectively
  • Fluency in English (both spoken and written)
