Summary of Job Purpose:

Responsible for overall direction, execution, control, and completion of construction and related activities of the Ship/Rigs building project. Shall also assist the Project Manager in the smooth handover of the project to the client while meeting the project's contractual obligations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Policies, Processes & Procedures:

Implements approved departmental policies, processes, and procedures, and provides instructions to subordinates while monitoring their adherence to ensure work is carried out in a controlled manner.

Devises and implements controls to ensure no violation of ISR regulations to protect the company’s information/intellectual properties.

  1. Day-to-Day Operations:

Ensure safety, quality, and environmental requirements of the yard and project are met.

Lead and plan construction and related activities of the project.

Together with the Project Planner, develop construction plans and schedules in line with the project’s contractual requirements.

Prepare construction methodology for assigned projects and assist the Project Manager in ensuring seamless delivery of the project.

Manage resource allocation for assigned projects and liaise with NB departments and all supporting trades.

Lead and ensure successful completion of all construction activities prior to handover to the MC/Commissioning team.

Prepare progress reports with the Project Planner and present them to the Project Manager/Dept Head.

Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the section head.

  1. Safety, Quality, Environment & Information Security Rules:

Responsible for complying with relevant safety, quality, and environmental management policies, procedures, and controls, ensuring that actions or omissions do not adversely affect the environment, health, safety, and well-being of themselves, colleagues, contractors, or members of the public.

Meet all responsibilities as outlined in the DDW OHSMS.

Participate in any training and safety initiatives implemented by the company.

Comply with all safety directives and work instructions.

Immediately report any incident or potential hazard to their supervisor or safety department.

STOP the task if you feel yourself or others may be harmed.

Ensure that all work is properly planned, communicated, and executed safely.

Advise workers on potential health and safety hazards and their controls.

Conduct regular inspections of work areas to identify and eliminate hazardous conditions and practices.

Report to the line manager/safety inspector promptly regarding incidents, hazards, unsafe plant, equipment, or other safety concerns.

STOP any worker performing an unsafe act and reinforce a positive attitude amongst the workforce.

  1. Educational & Technical Competencies:

Mechanical or Naval Architecture background with shipyard/heavy fabrication yard experience.

Minimum of 6 years of experience.

Good knowledge of up-to-date shipbuilding and offshore construction processes.

Computer proficient in MS Office, AutoCAD, MS Project.

Ability to effectively apply project management techniques.

Proficient in the application of analytical tools and techniques.

Critical thinking, troubleshooting, adaptive, and self-motivating.
