Role Overview
The Construction Director must be a qualified professional, currently at a Director level, with extensive experience (more than 20 years, with at least 7 in similar roles). The role involves planning, leadership, and technical expertise to manage complex, multidisciplinary projects. The candidate will also be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the company's reputation and developing long-term client relationships.
Responsibilities
- Manage a multidisciplinary site supervision team for a large-scale rail infrastructure project, including tunnels, viaducts, and iconic stations.
- Manage stakeholder interfaces within the client organization and other government departments.
- Oversee construction management and control.
- Monitor contractor compliance with contractual responsibilities.
- Track construction progress against schedule.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, to quality standards, and with high health & safety standards.
- Ensure resource allocation meets current and future project needs.
- Lead large, multi-disciplined site teams with a forward-thinking approach.
Minimum Requirements
- BSc, BEng, or equivalent qualification; advanced degree and Chartered status preferred.
- Over 20 years of experience, with at least 7 in similar projects or roles.
- Experience with large-scale construction, including tunnels, viaducts, infrastructure, and iconic assets.
- Excellent communication skills, experienced in reporting to senior executives.
- Proven track record in delivering large infrastructure projects, preferably rail.
- Deep knowledge of construction techniques, project controls, quality, and health & safety standards.
- Strong planning, analysis, and commercial management skills.
- Ability to mobilize teams and ensure successful project delivery.
- Ability to build effective relationships within complex organizational structures.
