Role Overview

The Construction Director must be a qualified professional at the Director level, capable of providing leadership, planning, and technical expertise for complex, multidisciplinary projects. A minimum of a BSc, BEng, BA, or equivalent, with Chartered status and over 20 years of experience (including at least 7 in similar roles), is required.

The role also involves maintaining and enhancing client relationships and developing new business opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Lead a multi-disciplinary site team on a large-scale rail infrastructure project, including tunnels, viaducts, and iconic stations.
• Manage stakeholder interactions within the client organization and government departments.
• Oversee construction management and control.
• Ensure contractor compliance with contractual obligations.
• Monitor project progress to adhere to schedules.
• Deliver projects on time, within budget, and to high safety standards.
• Allocate resources effectively to meet current and future project needs.
• Lead large, multidisciplinary site teams with a forward-thinking approach.

Requirements

• Minimum qualification of BSc, BEng, or equivalent; advanced degrees and Chartered status are preferred.
• Over 20 years of experience, with at least 7 in similar roles.
• Experience with large-scale construction, including tunnels, viaducts, infrastructure, and public realm projects.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of reporting to senior executives.
• Proven track record in delivering large infrastructure projects, preferably in rail.
• Strong knowledge of construction techniques, project controls, quality, and safety standards.
• Ability to plan, analyze, and manage commercial and process considerations.
• Proven leadership skills to mobilize teams and ensure successful project delivery.
• Ability to build effective relationships within complex organizational structures.
