Job summary

Dubai American Academy (DAA), part of GEMS Education, invites expressions of interest for outstanding High School Computer Science teachers to join from August 2027. We seek experienced educators passionate about academic excellence who can inspire confident, curious learners within an American/IB curriculum framework.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Education required or an initial degree with a CS teaching qualification (PGCE/State License or equivalent).
• Proven high school Computer Science teaching experience, preferably in American or IB settings.
• Strong knowledge of inquiry-based learning and practical CS instruction.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to build relationships with students, parents and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging High School Computer Science lessons aligned with the school curriculum and standards.
• Develop and implement creative teaching strategies to foster curiosity in CS.
• Collaborate with colleagues to create a positive, inclusive learning environment and ensure curriculum continuity.

• Engage in parent-teacher conferences and communicate student progress.

Position Overview

We are particularly keen to hear from experienced American curriculum and/or IB educators who are passionate about academic excellence and inspiring confident, curious learners.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging and interactive Computer Science lessons to high school students, following the school's curriculum and educational standards.
• Develop and implement creative and effective teaching strategies to inspire a love for Computer Science and foster critical thinking skills.
• Collaborate with colleagues to create a positive and supportive learning environment.
• Ensure continuity in the delivery of curriculum content.
• Differentiateinstructionto meet the diverse learning needs of students.
• Foster a positive and inclusive classroom culture that encourages curiosity and exploration.
• Participate in parent-teacher conferences andmaintainopen communication with parentsregardingstudent progress.
• Contribute to the wider life of the school through enrichment opportunities and professional learning.

Successful Candidate

• Hold a Bachelor of Education degree, or an initial degree together with a relevant teaching qualification such as a PGCE, State License, or equivalent specialising in Computer Science.
• Have proven experience teaching Computer Science at High School level, ideally within an American or IB curriculum school.
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of inquiry-based learning and practical Computer Science instruction.
• Be an excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Build strong relationships with students, parents and colleagues.
• Show a commitment to continually improve their practice and deliver outstanding teaching and learning experiences for their students.
