XM in Dubai is seeking an experienced Compliance, AML and Risk Officer to build a robust compliance and risk framework and provide independent oversight to the Board and senior management. The role requires establishing the management system, monitoring VARA requirements, and leading risk assessments across the organization.

You will train leadership and staff on AML/CFT obligations, collaborate with Legal and Technology, and ensure documentation and reporting to regulators when required.

Qualifikationen

• Degree in Law, Business, Finance, Economics or related field.
• At least 5 years of compliance experience with AML/CFT.
• Experience in financial services or online trading.
• Experience with VARA or comparable regime preferred.
• CAMS or equivalent qualification is advantageous.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal English.
• Ability to build processes in a fast-growing business.

Aufgaben

• Establish and administer the Compliance Management System, including AML/CFT and risk policies, procedures, controls and monitoring.
• Monitor VARA compliance, AML/CFT, consumer protection and other requirements, identify risks and breaches and take corrective action.
• Conduct AML/CFT and broader business risk assessments and strengthen controls.
• Monitor and report suspicious transactions as required.
• Prepare consolidated reports for the Board on compliance, audits and risk.
• Maintain records and provide documentation to VARA and authorities on request.
• Support business continuity and disaster recovery arrangements.
• Train and advise the Board and senior management on compliance and risk obligations.
• Collaborate with Legal, Licensing, Operations, Technology and other stakeholders.

The Role:

We are seeking an experienced, strategic and proactive Compliance, AML and Risk Officer to join our team in a rapidly growing, fast-paced and agile environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in building the Company’s compliance and risk framework, supporting regulatory readiness and providing independent oversight to the Board and senior management.

The main responsibilities of the position include:

• Establish and administer the Compliance Management System, including compliance, AML/CFT and risk policies, procedures, controls and monitoring arrangements.
• Monitor compliance with VARA, AML/CFT, consumer-protection and other applicable requirements, identifying emerging risks, weaknesses and material breaches and ensuring appropriate corrective action.
• Conduct AML/CFT and broader business risk assessments, strengthen controls in response to identified risks, and oversee the Company’s overall risk exposure.
• Monitor and report suspicious transactions in accordance with applicable requirements, including relevant anonymity-enhanced transactions and clients where required.
• Prepare consolidated reports for the Board covering compliance activities, audits, AML/CFT effectiveness, risk exposures, material findings, non-compliance and remediation progress.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure reports and supporting documentation are available to VARA and other relevant authorities when requested.
• Support the development and maintenance of business continuity and disaster recovery arrangements.
• Train and advise the Board, senior management and employees on compliance, AML/CFT and risk-management obligations.
• Collaborate with Legal, Licensing, Operations, Technology and other stakeholders to embed effective controls across the business.

Main requirements:

• Degree in Law, Business, Finance, Economics or a related field.
• At least 5 years of relevant compliance experience, including handling AML/CFT matters.
• Proven experience in financial services or online trading industry.
• Experience with VARA or a comparable regulatory regime is strongly preferred.
• Solid understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance principles.
• Relevant professional qualifications in compliance, AML or risk management; CAMS or equivalent is an advantage.
• Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
• Comfortable building processes and controls in a new and rapidly developing business
• Ability to prioritise multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Integrity of character and high levels of confidentiality.
• Excellent written and verbal English.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
