CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
2-year degree from an accredited university in Marketing, Business Administration, or related major; 2 years of experience in public relations, communications, or related professional area.
OR
4-year degree from an accredited university in Marketing, Business Administration, or related major; no experience required.
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Building Brand and Property Awareness to Drive Revenue
- Collaborates with local, regional, and national resources to enhance awareness and exposure for the property and restaurants.
- Solicits new media outlets and travel media contacts.
- Selects optimal opportunities based on market conditions and property needs.
- Uses creative selling skills to maximize exposure through travel journalists and media outlets.
- Increases awareness within the travel media community and coordinates events to boost exposure and revenue in restaurant outlets.
- Supports the hotel's social media initiatives if applicable.
- Works with online media outlets to promote the hotel.
- Coordinates offers and information for publications and insertions related to brand loyalty reward mailings.
- Develops brochures and property collateral materials.
- Participates in property imaging activities (e.g., signage).
- Ensures consistent messaging across all public relations and communication efforts.
Building Successful Relationships
- Builds and maintains relationships with travel writers and local media to ensure ongoing exposure, including calls, entertainment, FAM trips, trade shows, etc.
- Develops community relationships to expand customer base and sales opportunities.
- Conducts solicitation and maintenance calls to media.
- Identifies and communicates with distribution channels to sell distressed inventory and increase property occupancy.
- Provides creative tools to all communication channels for public relations efforts.
- Assists in developing promotional campaigns.
Coordinating Communication Efforts
- Provides accurate and effective communication to visiting journalists, publicity, or promotions.
- Evaluates new public relations opportunities for the property.
- Develops strategic public relations plans including group, leisure, and local efforts.
- Assists in managing media visits, both individual and group.
- Coordinates community service activities aligned with the resort's public image and needs.
- Supports creative print fulfillment, ensuring branding standards and legal compliance.
- Supports hotel press releases and digital content for media outlets.
Providing Exceptional Customer Service
- Sets a positive example for guest relations.
- Engages with guests to gather feedback and resolve issues effectively.
- Monitors employee service behaviors and provides constructive feedback.
- Conducts site inspections with visiting journalists.
Additional Responsibilities
- Keeps detailed records on all public materials related to the property.
- Ensures compliance with corporate public relations guidelines.
