Job summary

A Cultural Foundation in Sharjah is looking for a full-time Editorial and Communications Specialist. You will write and edit content for exhibitions, manage web content, and optimize for SEO. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree and 3–5 years of experience in communications or editorial roles, particularly in the arts sector. Working hours are from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Thursday, with some evening or weekend work required.

Job description

Reporting to:Press and Communications Manager

Job Location:Sharjah Emirate, United Arab Emirates (On-site)

Roles and Responsibilities

Editorial & Communications

  • Write and edit compelling content for Sharjah Art Foundation’s exhibitions, events, publications, and institutional initiatives.
  • Review written materials across platforms including newsletters, press releases, social media copy, speeches, and email campaigns.
  • Offer editorial guidance to team members and freelance contributors to ensure consistency with the Foundation’s tone, voice, and standards.
  • Review and refine internal reports and presentations for clarity and coherence.

Website Content Creation & Management

  • Lead the creation, editing, and maintenance of web content across the Foundation’s website.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely updates to pages related to exhibitions, events, news, artists, and institutional initiatives.
  • Generate original content for key sections of the site, including homepage features, artist bios, programme descriptions, and SAF Shop online content.
  • Contribute to improving the site’s structure and user experience by aligning content hierarchy with Foundation priorities.
  • Ensure visual and editorial consistency across web platforms by working closely with the Design and Content Strategy teams.

Digital Strategy & Performance

  • Optimize all website content for SEO and user engagement, including effective use of metadata, alt text, and keywords.
  • Monitor website analytics and user behavior to identify opportunities for improvement and content refinement.
  • Stay informed on digital trends and best practices in online content, user engagement, and web publishing tools.
Required Qualifications, Experience and Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Art History, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in editorial, digital content, or communications, ideally within the arts or cultural sector.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with a strong grasp of tone and narrative structure.
  • Experience working with CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress or similar), basic SEO, and web content management.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to meet deadlines across multiple projects.
  • Interest in contemporary art and cultural programming is a plus.
Conditions of Work

The role is a full-time position based in Sharjah, with working hours from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Thursday, and occasional evening or weekend work as needed.
