Job description

Job Title: Commodity Trader - Shipping
Reports to: Managing Director
An established 3rd generation multinational shipping family, which expanded into cargo operation/chartering in 2011 and has offices in Greece, Argentina, Sri Lanka, and Hong Kong, is looking to hire an experienced commodity trader based in the newly opened Dubai office.

Summary of the Role:

The Commodity Trader will play a key role in the company’s international expansion strategy.

  1. Buy and sell commodities (mainly grain feeds such as corn, soy, etc., and small quantities of feed oil) through the company’s trading department.
  2. Place traded products with established first-class buyers.
  3. Actively bid to buy and sell commodities on behalf of clients.
  4. Advise clients on investment options and market trends.
  5. Provide research-based recommendations to clients.
  6. Build rapport and maintain good relationships with clients.
  7. Acquire new customers and service existing relationships to achieve set targets.
  8. Responsible for revenue generation as per company benchmarks.
  9. Add value to clients and stay ahead of the competition by structuring and implementing innovative deals.

Job Requirements:
• Minimum 5 years of proven experience as a Commodity Trader within the shipping industry.
• Sound knowledge of cargo back-to-back facilitating/arranging trade between the shipper and receiver.
• Bachelor's degree in economics, finance, agriculture, banking, or other social sciences.
• Willing to be based in Dubai, UAE.

In addition, as this is the family’s first venture into trading, strong management and organizational skills are required to establish the new Middle Eastern market and develop the commodities trading portfolio in the region.
