The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Commissioning Engineerwith a proven track record in overseeing and coordinating the testing, inspection, and validation of systems or equipment to ensure they meet operational standards and project requirements for a high-profile client.
The key objectives for this role are
- Ensure safe and efficient commissioning of systems and equipment in accordance with project specifications, industry standards, and client requirements.
- Coordinate and execute commissioning procedures from pre-commissioning through start-up, validating performance and functionality of systems.
- Develop and implement commissioning plans, checklists, and documentation aligned with project schedules and commissioning strategies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, construction, operations, and vendors to ensure seamless transition from construction to operations.
- Lead and participate in system walkdowns, inspections, and functional tests, ensuring readiness for mechanical completion and turnover.
- Monitor and report on commissioning progress, identifying issues proactively and implementing corrective actions to maintain schedule integrity.
- Ensure adherence to HSE standards during all commissioning activities, promoting a safety-first culture on site.
- Support the development of as-built documentation and handover dossiers to operations or clients, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
- Facilitate technical troubleshooting and performance verification, helping resolve startup anomalies or punch list items.
Responsibilities
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
- Oversee all pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up activities in accordance with project specifications, safety standards, and contractual requirements.
- Develop and implement commissioning procedures, checklists, and system turnover plans in collaboration with construction, quality, and operations teams.
- Coordinate with engineering and construction teams to ensure that systems are mechanically completed and ready for commissioning on schedule.
- Execute functional and performance testing of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and control systems to verify operational readiness.
- Supervise and guide subcontractors and vendor representatives during the commissioning phase to ensure compliance with technical standards.
- Monitor commissioning progress and generate detailed reports capturing KPIs, system readiness, and any deviations or concerns.
- Ensure strict adherence to HSE procedures during all commissioning activities, conducting risk assessments and ensuring work permits are in place.
- Coordinate system handover and documentation, including as-built records, test reports, and operation manuals, in line with client requirements.
- Support troubleshooting, loop checking, and dynamic testing activities during startup, addressing anomalies and resolving issues collaboratively.

Qualifications
- Bachelor s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, or Chemical Engineering (or equivalent technical discipline).
- 5 10 years of hands-on experience in pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up phases of large-scale industrial, energy, or oil and gas projects.
- Vendor equipment-specific commissioning training is a plus
Key Technical Skills
- Deep understanding of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and process systems commissioning procedures
- Ability to interpret P&IDs, single-line diagrams, equipment datasheets, loop drawings, and control philosophies
- Proficiency in dynamic commissioning activities, function testing, and start-up troubleshooting
- Familiarity with system completions tools and turnover packages (e.g., MC, RFC, RFSU documentation)
Soft Skills & Competencies
- Strong leadership and coordination skills to interface with multi-discipline site teams, contractors, and vendors
- Excellent problem-solving aptitude and situational decision-making, especially under time-critical conditions
- Sound knowledge of safety protocols and a demonstrated commitment to safe work practices
- Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal
- Flexibility to work in remote or challenging site environments and adjust to project timelines
