Job summary

IHG Hotels & Resorts in Ras Al Khaimah Mina Al Arab Resort & Spa is seeking a Commis Chef for bakery and pastry with a passion for presentation, dedication to flavour and commitment to setting high standards from workspace to table and beyond.

You will prepare and present a variety of bakery and pastry items in line with hotel recipes and quality standards, assist in the production of breads, pastries, desserts, cakes, and other baked goods, and work closely with the Pastry Chef and kitchen team

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a bakery or pastry kitchen, preferably in a hotel or restaurant environment.
• Basic knowledge of baking techniques, pastry preparation, and food safety standards.
• The ability to lift, push, and pull items up to 50 lbs (23 kg), including frequent bending and kneeling.
• A good understanding of reading, writing, and basic maths.
• Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.
• Compliance with local food handling regulations.
• A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and passion for bakery and pastry.
• Great communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and presenting a variety of bakery and pastry items in line with hotel recipes and quality standards.
• Assisting in the production of breads, pastries, desserts, cakes, and other baked goods.
• Taking ownership of your workstation by maintaining cleanliness, organisation, and adequate stock levels.
• Ensuring all food is prepared, stored, and handled in compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
• Supporting inventory control by minimising waste and using ingredients efficiently.
• Assisting with receiving and storing deliveries, as well as other kitchen duties when required.
• Working closely with the Pastry Chef and kitchen team to ensure smooth daily operations.
• Taking on other ad hoc duties and supporting the team whenever needed.
