Job Description
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Working as a commis chef involves learning a variety of skills quickly and practicing them in real tasks in the kitchen.
- Performs basic food preparation, cooks, and serves delegated food items, ensuring high quality and adherence to standards for presentation and preparation.
- Prepares appetizers, meat, and vegetables for entrees, assisting with proper food presentation.
- Maintains a clean, hygienic, and tidy work area at all times.
- Observes and tastes food during cooking, sampling all prepared food.
- Controls cooking appliance temperatures, fries, and cooks simple hot food items.
- Assists Chef de Partie and Demi Chef de Partie with A La Carte orders.
- Learn how to refill and maintain an attractive buffet table during operation hours.
- Helps senior chefs with opening and closing food outlets, including food storage.
- Ensures proper handling and maintenance of equipment.
- Receives constructive criticism gracefully and follows orders effectively.
- Maintains punctuality and reports directly to the Supervisor.
- Maintains grooming standards at all times, whether in public or back areas.
- Reports incidents, guest complaints, losses, or breakages to superiors.
- Assists colleagues across departments to foster teamwork and hotel success.
- Attends daily pre-meal briefings, debriefings, and training sessions organized by the hotel.
- Performs additional tasks as assigned by superiors.
Report Line & Communication
- Assists the Head Chef in ensuring culinary standards comply with hotel policies and standards.
- Maintains good relationships with colleagues and other departments.
Others
- Engages in continuous learning through personal development plans (IDP).
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
- Minimum education of High Vocational diploma; culinary school degree preferred.
- Knowledge of cooking, food presentation, and sanitization is essential.
- Basic English communication skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and within tight time and space constraints.
- Quick learner, team player, with good interpersonal skills.
