Job Description
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Working as a commis chef involves learning a variety of skills quickly and practicing them through actual tasks in the kitchen.
- Receive constructive criticism gracefully and follow orders effectively.
- Perform basic food preparation tasks, cook, and serve assigned foods, ensuring high quality and adherence to standards for food preparation and presentation.
- Prepare appetizers, meat, and vegetables for entrees, and assist with food presentation.
- Observe, taste, and sample food during cooking.
- Assist Chef de Partie and Demi Chef de Partie in preparing A La Carte orders.
- Learn to refill and maintain an attractive buffet table during operating hours.
- Control cooking appliance temperatures, fry, and cook simple hot food items.
- Maintain a clean, hygienic, and organized work area.
- Handle and maintain equipment properly.
- Assist senior chefs in opening and closing food outlets, including food storage.
- Be punctual and report directly to the Supervisor.
- Maintain grooming standards at all times, whether in public or back areas.
- Report any incidents, guest complaints, losses, or breakages to superiors.
- Attend daily pre-meal and de-briefing sessions and other training organized by the hotel.
- Assist colleagues as needed, demonstrating flexibility and helpfulness.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by superiors.
Report Line & Communication
- Assist the Chef de Partie and Demi Chef de Partie in ensuring culinary standards comply with hotel policies and procedures.
- Maintain good working relationships with colleagues and other departments.
Others
- Engage in continuous learning through personal development plans (IDP).
- Perform any other duties assigned by superiors.

Job Requirements
- Minimum education of High Vocational diploma; a degree from a culinary school is preferred.
- Knowledge of cooking, food presentation, and sanitization is essential.
- Basic English communication skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure within tight time and space constraints.
- Quick learner, good team player, and possess good interpersonal skills.
