Job summary

Rosewood Abu Dhabi is seeking a Commis 1 to join our Culinary team, reporting to the Junior Sous Chef. You will be responsible for preparing and presenting high-quality dishes within your kitchen section, contributing to the daily operation and culinary excellence.

This role emphasizes food safety, mise en place, teamwork, and ongoing skill development, with opportunities to guide junior colleagues as you grow in a luxury hotel environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in a professional kitchen within a hotel, resort, or high-quality restaurant.
• Passionate about culinary excellence and producing high-quality dishes.
• Knowledge of food preparation techniques, kitchen operations, and food safety standards.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to perform under pressure.
• Enjoy collaborating and developing junior team members.
• English communication; additional languages are a plus.

• Prepare, cook, and present dishes according to Rosewood culinary standards and recipes.
• Support mise en place for all service periods.
• Maintain strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and hygiene regulations.
• Monitor product quality, portion control, and presentation standards.
• Guide Commis 2 and Commis 3 associates in daily kitchen operations.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment.

THE TEAM

The Culinary team at Rosewood Abu Dhabi is dedicated to delivering exceptional dining experiences through creativity, craftsmanship, and operational excellence. Working alongside experienced chefs in a dynamic kitchen environment, the team is committed to maintaining the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency.

As a Commis 1, you will report to the Junior Sous Chef and play an important role in supporting the daily operation of your assigned kitchen section while contributing to the overall success of the culinary team.

YOUR ROLE

As a Commis 1, you will be responsible for preparing and presenting high-quality dishes within your assigned kitchen section, ensuring all food is produced according to established recipes, standards, and procedures.

You will support the Junior Sous Chef in maintaining efficient kitchen operations, upholding food safety and hygiene standards, and delivering exceptional culinary experiences. You will also assist in guiding junior culinary associates while continually developing your own skills and expertise.

HOW YOU’LL MAKE THE PLACE

• Prepare, cook, and present dishes according to Rosewood culinary standards and recipes
• Ensure mise en place is organized and fully prepared for all service periods
• Maintain strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and hygiene regulations
• Monitor product quality, consistency, portion control, and presentation standards
• Support and guide Commis 2 and Commis 3 associates in daily kitchen operations
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment while ensuring proper care of equipment

• You enjoy working collaboratively and supporting the development of junior team members
