About The Job

Based at Mandarin Oriental Downtown, Dubai, within the Bakery section, the Commis will support the preparation and presentation of high-quality baked goods, ensuring consistency, care, and attention to detail, with timely delivery and adherence to hygiene and quality standards. The Commis reports to Chef de Partie.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in preparing ingredients, including washing, peeling, and basic prep tasks, ensuring all mise en place is completed to high standards.
• Support the bakery team in setting up and replenishing buffet items, maintaining presentation and freshness during service.
• Organize and store requisitioned items properly and assist in collecting supplies from storage areas.
• Monitor stock levels and inform supervisors when ingredients are low to ensure continuous kitchen operation.
• Maintain cleanliness in all kitchen and stewarding areas, reporting any maintenance or hygiene concerns.
• Comply with all health, food safety, and hygiene standards in line with hotel policies, HACCP, and UAE Municipality requirements.

Qualifications and Experience:

• High School qualification or equivalent required.
• Degree or Higher National Diploma in Hospitality or Culinary Arts preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of culinary experience as a Commis in a high-volume hotel or restaurant preferred.
• Basic skills in food handling, preparation, and kitchen operations.
• Familiarity with food hygiene and safety standards is an advantage.
• Passion for bakery and willingness to learn and grow within the culinary team.
