Job summary

SLS Dubai Hotel and Residences is seeking an Entry-Level Commis 2 to join our luxury kitchen team in Dubai. You will assist with daily kitchen operations, preparation, and cooking according to recipes, standards, and instructions.

This role offers exposure to high-volume service in a 5-star hotel environment. Requirements include a High School Diploma, culinary training preferred, good English communication, and a demonstrated commitment to cleanliness and food safety.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Culinary diploma or certificate preferred.
• Good command of English and effective communication skills.
• Experience in a hotel, restaurant, or professional kitchen preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Chef de Partie and Sous Chef with daily kitchen operations.
• Prepare and cook food items per recipes, standards, and instructions.
• Carry out mise en place and ensure ingredients are prepared and ready for service.
• Ensure consistency in food quality, taste, portion size, and presentation.
• Assist with restaurant, buffet, banquet, and other kitchen operations as required.
• Monitor food preparation during service and ensure orders are completed efficiently.
• Maintain proper food handling, storage, labeling, and FIFO procedures.
• Follow HACCP, food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
• Keep workstation, kitchen equipment, and prep areas clean and organized.
• Assist with stock control and inform shortages or replenishment requirements.
• Minimize food wastage through proper preparation and storage.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and report faults.
• Assist with cleaning and closing duties at end of shift.
• Support and guide Commis 2 team members when required.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Chef de Partie, Sous Chef, or Executive Chef.

Qualifications

• Basic Food Safety or HACCP certification is an advantage.
• Previous experience in a hotel, restaurant, or professional kitchen is preferred.
• Previous experience as a Commis 2 or in a similar kitchen role is an advantage.
• Good command of English and effective communication skills.
• Good organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
• Ability to work independently when required and support senior chefs during service.
• Willingness to learn and develop culinary skills.
