A leading company in the UAE seeks a Commercial Director to oversee all procurement and subcontracting activities. The role involves developing strategic procurement plans, negotiating contracts, and managing supplier relationships to optimize costs and ensure compliance with regulations. Ideal candidates will have extensive experience in the construction sector and a strong track record in contract negotiations.
Role Purpose:
The Commercial Director will lead all procurement, subcontracting, and commercial management activities across operations. This includes designing and executing robust local and international procurement strategies, negotiating contracts, managing suppliers and subcontractors, and ensuring commercial risk management and cost optimization all aligned with UAE and international construction sector best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and execute strategic procurement plans for materials, equipment, and services.
Lead subcontracting negotiations, ensuring performance, cost, and risk goals.
Oversee vendor selection, pre-qualification, and performance management.
Optimize procurement processes and integrate technology for efficiency and transparency.
Ensure compliance with UAE regulations, international standards, and internal governance.
Collaborate with project teams to align procurement and subcontracting with project goals.
Manage commercial risk across supply chains, ensuring robust contractual protections.
Provide regular reporting on procurement performance, cost savings, supplier risks, and market trends.
Key Qualifications:
Bachelor's in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (MBA or commercial certification preferred).
15+ years experience in procurement, commercial management, and subcontracting within UAE and international construction markets.
Strong track record in large-scale contract negotiations.
Expertise in regional and international supplier markets, contract law, and strategic sourcing.
Excellent leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
