AtkinsRéalis is looking for a Commercial Manager – Rail System.

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager – Rail System to lead and manage the commercial aspects of a high-speed rail systems package. This role will be pivotal in ensuring the successful delivery of commercial strategies, contract administration, and cost control across the rail systems scope, including signaling, telecommunications, power supply, and rolling stock.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement commercial strategies aligned with project objectives and contractual obligations.
  • Manage all aspects of contract administration, including claims, variations, and change control.
  • Lead negotiations with contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure favorable commercial outcomes.
  • Monitor and report on project budgets, forecasts, and financial performance.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies, legal requirements, and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and project controls teams to ensure integrated delivery.
  • Support risk management processes and mitigation strategies related to commercial and contractual matters.
  • Prepare and present commercial reports to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Manage commercial teams and provide mentorship to junior staff.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in commercial management within large-scale infrastructure or rail projects.
  • Proven experience in high-speed rail or complex rail systems (signaling, telecoms, electrification, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of FIDIC, NEC, or similar contract frameworks.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment.
Preferred Skills
  • Professional membership (e.g., MRICS, MCIPS, or equivalent).
  • Experience working in international joint ventures or PPP environments.
  • Familiarity with digital tools for cost and contract management.
